hey guys..... well it seems like one day the colt runs fine and i actually think the little 4g15 isnt that bad.... then like 2 days later my opinion changes completely..... sometimes i hate this car big time

well listen for starters today i was drifting on a dirt road and slide to the ditch and unseated my tire from my rim.... now tonight going down the road i notice that in 4th gear on my 4 spd tranny, my car wont accelerate any when i push the gas down further past 60..... it just seems to bog and slow down more.... what could cause this???? Honestly today the good ol gas can and a pack of matches theory really crossed my mind....

any help would be much appreciated

is 4th the only place it does it? Where in the rev's are you? does it bog under full throttle, mid throttle, or both? Did you check for any obvious damage besides your tire? is it like fuel cut?

If you slam it real good, I suppose you could have kicked up some stuff in the gas tank, now the filter is clogged. Maybe it's a coincedence. Damage your exhaust? pinching off the power exit port??

Just a few ideas at this delerious hour. and a few questions to get us closer to the answer.

well last night when it started bogging in 4th it was like mid and full throttle it just got worse with more gas..... i was around 2-3 grand i think somewhere in that range... but the car doesnt seem like its pulling like its supposed to... i just fixed the car the other day because i was having problems......... it has a new fuel filter and i dont think the exhaust is pinched anywhere....... maybe i should throw my gutted cat on, i hear sometimes the cat will make it do things like this???

Looks like a bad batch of gas that causes detonation under high load. Which in turn, causes the ECU to retard timing.
Er... do USDM 4G15s have a knock sensor? :-?

Fuel pump could be culprit. I noticed a lack of poer under throttle and on the highway it didnt pull in higher gears like it should. You can do a test. Pull the top line from the filter(be sure to disable the distributor) hold your finger over the top of the filter and have someone crank the engine. This will give you a idea of your pressure. Mine would build like 5psi and then go to zero. With your finger off it should sqirt pretty good. Shouldnt just dribble. DONT SMOKE while doing this!!

hey man, might be your brakes from when you had that tire issue. remembering back to the days when my brakes were ceased, couldn't get over 80 then kept getting lower and lower. see if your brakes are good and warm after a few minutes of driving, might be that.[/img]
