I could indeed use a good bumper! Mine is a Maaco-painted special that's green underneath...and currently flaking :(.

It's with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my in-dash clock :(

I have had many colts, and that clock was always a plus, when I found a working one. I've got to see if I can fix it, otherwise I'm going to mount my wideband there. It's an NGK one, with a rectangular display.

My clock isn't dead! I managed to get it to work again, so life is good :).

Made a bit of progress today too...and yes, it drove out on it's own.

Got my wideband installed, so I was able to see what kind of AFRs I was getting on the fully untuned Evo 8 ecu swap. I have no idea what my fuel trims are, since I still haven't replaced the rad, so I didn't want to linger...but I was seeing a steady 14.5-14.7 :). Fired up right away too, I really like this ecu :).

My shocks are BLOOOOOOOOOOOWN, lol. On the 10' drive, it felt like a little whale. The paint I applied on the rockers actually matches up quite well too. It's close enough to not attract attention, which is all I wanted. I really need to find some skirts :(.

Thanks :). The rust should have turned me away, but I'm a masochist that likes to learn about metalwork, lol.

Today I've managed to get the hood on, rad filled, timing set, and idle set. I still need to relocate my wideband 12v (I want it on during cranking, right now it is not), feed the WB into the ecu for logging, get a second fan (one fan is good-ish, but it is a bit too hot IMO), make the oil drain stop leaking, and get the car to HPAuto.ca for the finishing exhaust work. I hate making exhausts.

Basically, the car is going to sit for a few weeks while I sort out the VW Golf in the background. A guy has to make project money somehow ;).

...and let the delays begin again, lol.
My crank pulley wobbles like mad, so there's no way the car is moving until I replace it. I also need a second fan to help keep everything cool, it gets way too hot at idle.

Sigh...cars.

Yeah, definitely don't want that. I'll get a new pulley soon, right now it's back-burner.

Since I don't really have much to do for a while, I've begun the de-colting of my colt. I'm not going to rebadge it or anything, but I am dumping the monochromatic body color. I've always preferred the blacked out side trim/bumper strip/mirrors/grille of the mirage, and since my car has already been ruined with a Maaco paintjob (and HORRIBLY done at that), I figure what the heck :). The driver's side trim is drying currently, and removing it highlighted a really rusty area hidden under the trim (gee...rust on this car? I'm SHOCKED!). I might put a bit of effort into fixing it, but it's just surface rust, so I may just leave it. I hate bondo.

The new look.

I still have to do the rear bumper, but it's coming along nicely. It's not a great job, but hey...the car is rough, and I'm ok with that :).

Started on a little rad cover/shroud to keep all the air going where it belongs, since it's not a stock rad.

I've never been happy with my rad/IC setup, so it's getting scrapped. I'm going to go to a setup like I had before: civic battery (or relocated to the rear), and a Talon SMIC with ducting. I am a stickler for using OEM parts when possible, and I'm also bored, so might as well redo something :).

Now...I need to get a stock rad and fan, lol.

...aaaaand everything comes to a dead stop.

We've always had water in the basement, but today's torrential rain was the last straw. During the basement superflooding we came home to, I started kicking in drywall (very therapeutic :) ) and discovered that the mortar at the very bottom of my basement wall (hooray for cinderblock foundations from the 70s :() is crumbling. All car spending is now done, possibly for a while, until we can fix the issue.

Houses are worse than cars, sigh.

I sense a house on stilts!

There has to be a bright side to basement repairs!
Sorry, I tried man! :)

Well, we should see if there is a discount on ordering two rads!
P.S. If you still have the paperwork for PO buying the newer alum rad, I'll gladly bring it back to you!

Newer aluminum rad? No paperwork like that, but no worries...I've made some slight improvements that will allow a bit more efficiency out of the neon rad :). I dropped the IC about three inches, which gives the upper portion of the rad more access to cool air, and slid it slightly over so I can get a 7" pusher fan in as well. There's more room for the IC piping too, so this could be a win/win :).

I'm home today fixing the foundation damage, so I had some time to kill while waiting for the putty/patch to dry. Figured I'd work on the car a bit, to de-stress.
