Hey,
i'm upgrading the fuel system on the colt, so far it consists of Walbro 255LPH, 550CC Injectors, SAFC III and a Venom Fuel Rail, i was wondering if i should just use the Talon non turbo regulator because its a higher PSI then the Turbo models. Should i upgrade to an adjustable unit or micky mouse it with a Talon nonturbo regulator? I know a few DSM guys using the non-turbo regulator and they have no complaints, What do you guys think?
Thanks
-Dom

Don't forget my poll!  :D

You definitely want an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with that big of a pump! That pump will overflow your fuel rail/injectors without an adjustable fpr.

Being as you're using the 550cc injectors, something above the level of the standard 1G Turbo FPR makes sense. As to wether you are really using the full flow of the injectors depends on all the other mods, esp if you're still working off a 4G61 and not 4G63. If you can tell if you are running rich or lean (probe/gauge), try it under slightly restricted boost to make sure you don't lean out enough to detonate. In theory, it should be just right, but these 61's are sometimes funny. Let us know how it works out.
Yes, I responded to your plea for help...I mean poll. :P

I would get the adjustable regulator. If you have not put in the Walbro yet, check out:
http://www.stevetek.com/R-FuelSys.html
for an idea for increasing fuel flow rather than just pressure.

The fuel rail is a waste if time so I hope you didn't pay too much for it. But yes you MUST use an aftermarket FPR for your setup. Im using a Malpassi reg which I like but they are not cheap. The item Buschur Racing is selling gets a good rap.

Im using the fullthrottlespeed.com adjustable 1G FPR that fits directly on the 1G fuel rail, fed by -6AN from the tank. It has no problems taming my 255 high pressure wallbro. For $150ish, its a nice piece. I would highly recommend.

for one thing, the high flow fuel rail is pointless unless your above the 600hp mark, have you seen the size of out rails? Many down here (DSM)are in the low 11's and 2 in the 10's. and none of them have (or need) the rail.
As for regulator, if you have to upgrade, get an adjustable, otherwise it is a pointless buy, but peopel please listen to me
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET A REGULATOR WITH A 255!!!
All you need to do is enlarge the inlet to the regulator, and it will bypass enough fuel at idle to idle fine. I have done this to 5 turbo cars nor and they all Idle like champs.

I agree that you do not haveto get a FPR with the 255. But they are kinda neat to have around. Also, yes, it should be adjustable.
