Get this, I found a brass dual core rad NIB. Only catch is that the tabs fit fans for a C10 turbo, and no pins on the top section(!) and possibly slightly shorter than a C53a rad. All aluminum options are single core so far, minus one option via GVR4 from rock auto. Good to hear things are fitting into place!

Well, I think I may have fixed the leaks in the basement, so I can move forward on the colt...albeit a bit slower than before. That means my current 'blistering' pace of updates (/end sarcasm) might get a bit slower, lol.

My new crank pulley is in, and I should have it installed by the end of the weekend. It's not a HUGE update, but it'll be good to be able to fire the car up again at least.

Ok, I should have said the new pulley would be in by tonight, lol. All done :).

I made some...modifications...that will make this sort of thing a lot easier in the future. I enlarged the holes in the driver's side wheel well, so that all bolts and sockets can go right through.

For reference, not worth trying the 88 and lower model year rads. I didn't want to fart around with brackets and making the original fan work. Also slightly shorter but still dual core.

Great to hear the wobble is gone! I'm at the point of removing the four bolts on the pulley. I don't have the access you have created!

Drove it around the block today :).

3" open downpipe, dirty/dusty everything, and complete success. I need to get an aftermarket cooling gauge I think, because I can't trust any of the logs. My fan shut off at 101*C...which is 23*C higher than it should have. The dash was showing normal temps though. Grr.

Here's a video of it idling on the Evo ecu, smooth as silk :). Yes...the 13G is that loud through the open downpipe, lol.

SUCCESS! :D

I still want a secondary fan, but I got the car up to temp without any overheating. It was around 91*C once the fan came on, confirmed by the dash gauge and Evoscan. The IR temp gun also showed that everything was under control. I'm very stoked.

Which brings me to the point I'm at now...waiting. We have a trip to the Syracuse Nationals in July, so all car spending is off the table until we get back. Afterwards the car will be getting towed to HP Auto (http://www.hpauto.ca :) ) for a 3" DP-back system. I've already got a new 3" catalytic converter ready go to, so I just need the rest.

I still have to paint the rear bumper, and maybe find a driver's fender, but the car is getting pretty close to being road-ready! :D

(oh, the car also starts and idles better on the 2003 Mitsubishi ecu than it does on the chipped stocker. Very happy with that too.)

Every time I turn around, something falls off this car  . I'm prepping the rear bumper for the black stripe and notice one of the corners is kinda pushed out where it bolts to the arch. I grab a 10mm socket, reach down...SNAP. The whole tab just falls off the arch. More rot...awesome.

I really think I need to re-shell this car, if I could find another colt once this one is on the road. I'd much prefer a sedan, so if anyone has any lines on any...willing to travel!

Finished the Mirage-ification :). Looke waaaaay better IMO.

Besides, two silver GTTs in one small city would confuse people ;).

New speedo cable is in, and I think these wheels will be perfect :). Thanks Tim!

Check the one tire for a slash! That and one rim needing more weight than usual, were the only issues I can remember. They've been off the car since 2010? Happy to see them put to use.

No worries, I'll be throwing new rubber on before I put them on the car. The steelies on it now have tires that will be better for the safety. They're the perfect look for the car IMO, simple and classic.

Can't wait! :D

I love Summit Racing  .
I ordered a GOOD 8" fan (no ebay nonsense, already have one of those...which is why I need a second fan) on Thursday, and it arrived this morning. It was shipped from this side of the border too, which is awesome. It's going on tonight, and that will pretty much finish the car until I can get it to HP Auto (buddy's perf shop) for the rest of the 3" exhaust. That won't be until late july, which means I'll be bored out of my skull, but it will be worth the wait.

Fan's in :).

Now I need to tackle the terrible windshield sprayer setup. Rotten wires, corroded connectors, and brittle vinyl lines...awesome.

Both sprayers now work, although the rear is less than spectacular. I'm concerned the line is cracked somewhere inside the car, so I will be deleting it once I'm through the safety. Same goes for the front. The bugs out here are pretty bad, so the only way to get rid of them is at the gas station with a squeegee. A bit of rain-x on the glass helps too.

Now, once my week stops sucking, I'll investigate the oil filter housing ;).
