Iv tried searching & was trying to find correct way to install battery kill switch. I need this to be to standards with nhra rules.. Anyone have experience is hooking up there kill switch? Mines mounted on rear bumper & is a two post. Did you just hook battery to kill switch and than other post to battery? how did you wire it into alternator? any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Per the NHRA the car has to shut off when that switch is thrown. For cars that run an alternator you have to find a way to have the battery and alternator be disconnected when the switch is thrown. There are switches made for that and a bit of wiring is involved.

Or you can simply remove your alternator belt when making a pass and put it back on to charge the battery. A lot of drag cars do not run alternators and charge in between runs.

what we did was run the main wire from the alt to a heavy duty switch..(u can hide/mount it anywhere by the alt for less wiring)... before u go thru tech flip the switch..(this will turn off the alt) then when u flip the main switch at back of car it will shut off... just remember to flip it back on so it will charge..

the only other way is to buy the 4 prong cutoff switch and run the alt wire all the way to the back to connect it.

Why couldn't you get a constant use solinoid, like the kind used on electric winches, to control the power to the alt. Use the switched side of your kill switch to activate the solinoid.
