The place is actully for sale lol, 26 acres with a nice pond. It was a decent looking place at one time but its been empty for a few years now. I actually wish I could swing it, I'd clear out a section and start my own junkyard.

They are asking like 100K which is absolutely crazy. Probably worth half that tops.

wow... even 100k for 27 acers is DAMN cheap. you wont see those kind of prices up here.... you could pay like 500k for 27 acers up here in British Columbia, but a lot of that land is farmable.

100K is stoopid cheap. I'm on a quarter section (160) acres and its market value is 500-750k easily... Not bragging just fact.. Prices up here are retarded. I'm also 60 miles from any city to which I commute daily. If you go closer to the city the prices quadruple.

Wow, you guys make me realize how blessed I really am. We paid 23k for our 2BR brick house on a 1/4 acre with a new roof and windows about 3 years ago. Recently refinanced at 3.99 fixed for a payment of $196/mo for 12 years. Cheaper than the payment on the 2010 Yaris  .

Sure the house was a foreclosure and we have spent a lot of time cleaning and doing repairs but still. We can't even rent anywhere decent for less than $400/mo.

Blessed is right Chris. It helps to be in the right place at the right time. A fixer upper for that price is phenominal. I'm happy you and your family got that house. So many people are less fortunate than us. Thank God for the Blessing!

Thanks man! I know sometimes when we are working on it or spending a lot of money at Lowes for supplies it gets frustrating. But then I think about all of the people spending $500+ on rent and realize I need to stop complaining  .

Holy crap Chris, that's not even a steal, that's infomercial level of crazy. "Buy houses for $100/month" etc etc.

My uncle owns quite a few mobile homes that he rents out and that's how he started. He would buy a place cheap, live there and fix it up a little and then rent it out and move on to the next place. I'm sure our house would rent for $450 easy, as long as I could keep someone here they would make the mortgage payment/taxes and home owners plus a little to put in my pocket. Hmm, decisions decisions.

I wouldn't complain at all about the cost of your house. I have a roommate living in my basement for $400 a month rent :) My mortgage is $1360 a month! I have a 2 year old 1400 square foot ranch on 1/3 acre with city sewer and water just south of Green Bay. I wouldn't change it for anything except maybe less of a payment.
