Sorry guys I haven't been around in the past days. It snowed about 5 inches Friday night and into yesterday morning. We have Not had power since yesterday at noon. No electric, well, or sewer. Not fun anymore. We have gas heat but no electric to run furnace fans and it's damn cold. Last night into early this morning the temp readout was 36.4 f in my kitchen now it's 54. Power company says it may take till Wednesday to restore power to some parts of my area. Funny thing is that the people on other side of the road have power. Actually all the families running off the other main line have juice. I keep callin the power co to come reset the transformer that runs to about 10 homes on my side, but can't really get a def answer

I'd be threatening lawsuits by now, days without power in hypothermic conditions?? That's ridiculous. Might want to retrofit a wood burner in the basement in case it ever happens again. I'd suggest sleeping in the basement too, once you're below the frost line, the ground never really gets colder than 55*.

or a small genterator to backfeed electricity into the furnace fans...

Or get a few of those wall heaters from Northern Tool for around $200, especially since you already use gas to heat with. They don't require any type of electricity and work really well. Our furnace needs to be replaced so we bought a few of those heaters to hold us over and they work so well I doubt we even bother.
