Flywheel, Starter Plate, and Transmission should all match. AWD flywheels have less teeth on them because they have a smaller diameter than a FWD turbo Flywheel, and they'll need a different starter plate which means the starter bolts holes are closer on the bellhousing. (The AWD flywheels are smaller in diameter because the transfer case output shaft gets in the way).

I know this because I installed a switchable AWD tranny in my colt, but it was trashed and I swapped it out for a KM210. I had to get a FWD 4g63t flywheel and starter plate in place of the AWD flywheel and starter plate to run the FWD tranny.

Flywheels aren't too expensive, why screw around?

Looking good guys. I think we have covered all the installation possibilities on this one. I have personally installed the AWD starter plate by mistake when I cross over my 4g63t power plant into the Colt, some years back. Sure enough I realized my mistake after bolting up the transmission to the engine while it was attached to the picker. Pulled everything apart and got my FWD starter plate installed, installed the KM210 215mm FWD clutch and FWD pressure plate combination, and had the car back on the road. Only recently when the 215mm FWD CenterForce Dual Friction clutch was slipping under boost, was that combination pulled to have the FWD DSM 225mm pressure plate (Fidanza) and 225mm FWD clutch ACT 2100 equivalent installed.

KM210
KM210 factory starter plate (FWD) 4g61/4g61t (FWD 4g63/4g63t DSM must be identical)
225mm FWD DSM pressure plate
225mm FWD DSM clutch

Good for archives for sure !

Do you know if the AWD (smaller than FWD) clutch match the stock 4G61T 215mm FW ?
Same question for a KM206 tranny found on 4G61/4G63 N/A motor ?

I need a strong clutch for another colt 4G63T swap but with KM206 trans 8)

Also good information here :

All turbo dsm's use the 225mm clutches

For the km206 you will need to use a 1g na dsm flywheel which I believe uses the 215mm clutch but I'm not positive.

If you have an AWD 4g63t flywheel, you can use it.

BIG NEGATIVE!

Yes, we had established this earlier in the thread.

I don't know all the ins and outs, but I can confirm for sure that my KM206 used the exact same starter plate as my W5M33. I purchased the AWD one from Mitsubishi before my transmission swap just to make sure I had everything I needed, and low and behold when I held them up to each other they were identical.
