I just bought a 1992 Ply Colt off another 4g61t member and am noticing major issues with it already. Ive had it in my possesion for almost 6hours now. The guy said it has 660cc injectors, 16g turbo, 2gmaf, and a bunch of other add-ons. What my question is, Would that setup be tuneable or should I switch down to 450's on the injectors and change the maf to a GM one? It sputtered terribly my entire drive home & COULD NOT PHYSICALLY GO OVER 60mph. I did notice two other MAJOR issues that this NICE FELLA decided not to mention to b4 taking out on my 120 mile journey back home. It has a 14gal fuel cell w/ an inline walbro 255. It leaks like hell in the rear hatch and under the hood where the pressure guage is installed. But what really has me bugging rite now, is i discovered a lot of dirty oil in the radiator fluid. (Which wasnt present b4taking out!) PLEASE tell me that sign isn't what I think it is? I seriously cant afford buying a car w/ a blown head gasket. I ALSO will reply later on, on how to hook up my fuel cell w/ a float and make it work w/ colt gt cluster! Any input is greatly appreciated, seeing as I am very new at being a die hard CSM fan. And am even newer to the 4g63t motors!

is there a safc or anything else to tune it with.. its running rich with 2g maf and 660s.. I would not go down to 450s with the 16g.. as for the fuel leaks..that sucks..hope you find and fix them all...and oil in water is not good..I would check the oil..make sure its topped off... drain all water in the system and flush it out.. then keep a eye on it.. usually a blown head gasket it will over heat.

and welcome to the board.. hope you can find all the info you can process lol

Follow what Slowdsm said, take your time with it, we all did have to start somewhere and honestly I don't think you're off to a bad start. If you have any specific questions we're here to help.

Well, I talked to Josh a little bit ago, and he sent me some pictures of the issue.. Its defently a blown headgasket.. The over flow is milky and so is the coolent. I guess they forgot to mention that in the forsale thread.. All it said was "needs tuned"

Kinda a shitty situation if you ask me.. Now the seller is ignoring calls/PM's, instead of trying to make the situation right.

SLOWdsm... It has no working temp guage. I have to track down its wiring & hook it up. I still think the HG is blown though. I also noticed, (more than normal) fuel in the oil. I was hoping to get rid of my 89 Ddg Colt and play with this one rite off the bat... Boy was i FOOLED.

Yes.. Im sure if you read his discription in the first post, and read a few Recent FS ads, you could put two and two together.

I have been scowering for inexpensive heads to replace it with. Its just i burnt through a pretty good sized personal loan to pick this up and do title + plates. Now this! I even asked the guy the direct question, If it had a blown head... His statement read, " No way man. Just needs tuned b/c it runs rich. But definitly not a blown HG." Im fairly good figuring out car stuff. And there is no way I am falling for SOMEONE THAT BUILDS THESE KINDS OF STREET MACHINES, TO NOT HAVE ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE TO KNOW THE SIGNS OF A HG ISSUE!!! I mean seriously. Lets get real here. Ive been busting knuckles under hoods since i was 11 yrs old and at 11 i knew the symptons of headgasket issues. Over heating... Oil in coolant... Low oil pressure... Smoke from the tail pipe. (White or Blueish grey) Greenish tint on plugs...Little or no compression(in some cases.). Grrrr!!!!!!!!!!! If i didnt live so far away from the guy, why aughta! lol.

Was it this one?

He can either explain his side or he's gone from the board. Ridiculous.

Imagearhead, here's his thread about the car.

I went through the same thing, maybe mine's a bit worse though. A "small oil leak" turned into a thrown rod 100 miles away from home. Luckily I had a daily driver. I might have a spare headgasket if you're in desperate need of one. The 4g63t is pretty easy to swap the headgasket on, it'll take about 3-4 hours if you know what you're doing. Undo the intake and exhaust manifolds, tie the cam gears together so they don't spin and unbolt them, pull the head and swap gaskets. You shouldn't need to replace the entire head if it's just the gasket.
