alright, i have what i thought was a turbo brake booster in my swapped colt E, i bought it off someone here earlier this year. turns out its a junk piece(recently got around to installing it :evil: ) and now im trying to get a new replacement.

advance auto has ordered me 2 boosters and they have both been the same diameter as my old 1.5l booster, whearas the "turbo" one i bought off here was 1-2" larger, but in the archives i have seen something along the lines, that the turbo and non turbo were the same small diameter but had a different ratio, am i accidently screwing with advance auto? whats the deal? if i got sent a "fake" booster then im hitting up paypal stat!

Was it sold as a turbo brake booster? Th elantra booster is slightly larger but requires a spacer to work correctly. Why doesn't it work?

two reasons, diaphragm leaks, and the internal check valve is not working properly. i have okay brakes around town but after a good 3 gear pull on the highway i have no brakes :o

yes it was sold as a turbo booster by grtyphoon early this year. im not POSITIVE its not a turbo booster, he had two of them from a part out. when i got it, it was obvious it had had a leaky MC as the paint was stripped off the bottom, but the car wasnt where it needed to be to test it out till recently.

soo, are turbo and non turbo the same diameter? i know the turbo is 4:1 and stock 1.5l colt is 3:1.

I have one from an elantra that I've had for sale for a few months. $45 + shipping for the booster, master cylinder and prop valve. You can look in my build thread for a comparison between the elantra one and the na csm one. If you're interested just search my name under the FS section or let me know and I can get you a link to pics. Also you use the csm spacer with the elantra booster when installing it. The elantra one is much thicker and it will make the brake pedal sit too close to the floor.

how bout just the prop valve? already have both the hyundai mc and booster new, but no prop valve, though im not sure it makes a difference vs the colt one as the colts use the same one for all models.

Just looked in the FSM's for both cars in question: 1989 1.5 equipped with either 7" or 8" (Sedan more than likely), and the 1.6L is 8" diameter.
1.5L = 3.5:1 or 4:1 booster ratio, 1.6L = 4:1 booster ratio
Elantra 92-94.5ish = 9.177" diameter, 4:1 ratio.

Hope that helps.

Your prop valve should work just fine.

ugh, i put in a new elantra booster yesterday. still have the same problem, car wont slow down and pedal is uber stiff after a good long boost.

what are you guys using for check valves between your IM and booster?

do you think this is just an overload of my tiny 1.5l unvented brakes?

Stock GT turbo valve or install one from any of the other Mitsu turbo cars 1G, 2G TEL's, GVR4's and VR4's.
