I am trying to decide between the two bumpers listed, a JDM Colt bumper or an Evo3 bumper. If I were to use the JDM I would have to heavily modify it for my needs, the Evo3 would require much less modification for function, just for fit.

JDM

Here is a picture of an Evo3 on a Colt hatch, shopped of course.

So this doesn't become a completely pointless thread I should say that I already have my mind 90% made up but I would like to hear arguments for either or both before I open my wallet.

If the plan is to slap an evo 3 bumper on just the way it is I vote NNNNOOOOOO! However if you can make it look close to the shopped one in the pic that's a completely different story.

Well the wheels I'm using are 9" wide so either way the fenders will be flared.

Both are hard to find oem pieces that would be a shame to cut up. Can't fit another commonly available bumper?

VIS does make a very nice replica but of course its made of fiberglass. I guess if you're doing any type of racing you'd want a urethane bumper cover. But then again if the plan is to do something custom it would be hard to fab up a new one every time you damage one.

I can pick up Evo3 replicas for ~$180 all day long, if I go the JDM route I will buy one and make a mold of it to have copies replicated. The car will be raced and it will be damaged but race tape and zip ties can only hold it together for so long. There will be structure behind the cover for strength but fiberglass or carbon is preferable since this piece will be used to transmit aero loads into the chassis.

I think that's a UK car and those wheels are likely Rimstock/Team Dynamics, though they might not be available.

The first pic is of GSR70Y's car from the land down under, as opposed to the cloud down under. He's not really on any of the boards much anymore, but he is still around.
His car was my desktop, that exact photo for god knows how long. Now I have that bumper. 8)

Back from the dead... I had originally voted to go with the Evo III but I just can't get over the look of the stock GSR bumper so it looks like I'll be punching my wallet in the marbles and buying a JDM/Euro cover.

http://cgi.ebay.com/JDM-Mitsubishi-C73A ... es&vxp=mtr

I super low balled him and then exhausted the number of counter offers Ebay allows. We settled on $210 + shipping.

I was going to wait until I actually needed it but I have only seen three of them in the last year and every time one sells they don't replace it. I figured it was better to put out the cash now and guarantee I get one than wait and regret not buying it since when they come up for sale on the board they are usually $400 + shipping.
