Would it matter if it wasn't turbo? I don't know if the 4G61s had squirters or not. I have a n/a engine laying around my shop.

So, youre unsure if there is a difference between the 4g61 and the 4g61t? Could you send me some pictures please? I may also be interested in a crank if anyone has one.

Well yeah. I know it's not out of a turbo car, so it's definitely not going to have oil squirters in the block. What I'm not sure of is, does the turbo version of the 4g61 even come with squirters? Does your build plan require squirters?

From left to right: 6 bolt 4g63t with AWD 5 speed hanging in foreground, 4g61 from 89 Summit sedan, 6 bolt 4g63 from 91 Eclipse GS, and damaged 7bolt 4g63t from 97 Spyder gst.

Here's another shot of the 4g61. It ran when I pulled it out of my car around 6+ years ago, but I'm sure it needed a rebuild after 230,000 or so miles. The only noises were the typical lifter tick when it was cold.

Here's the ID stamp on the block; I checked, and it's threaded for a knock sensor too.

I'm probably less than 500 miles from you, so if you want to come check it out in person I'll put it on a stand.

Ps. The crank in it should be fine.

If you can confirm that a 4g61t is the same--how much do you want for that shortblock?

I can tell you for sure that a 4g63T (bare block) is the same as a 4g63 n/a (bare block) with the exeption of oil squirters and sometimes threading for the knock sensor. The crankshaft itself, and rods, are identical. The only other differences in a longblock other than what I just mentioned are the pistons, and the cam grind.

Since I don't have a turbo 1.6 block to look at, I can't tell you if the turbo 1.6 would have squirters or not, but I assume it does.

I'll leave it up to you to do any reasearch on what parts you can use to complete your goal. I was just putting it out there that I have a good 4G61 block, crank, and head in case you need them.

It's been cluttering up the corner of my shop for over 5 years, so I'm not likely to be turning down any offers. It's missing some little things like the BSE parts, timing components, and maybe some lifters and rockers.

Turbo 4g61t will have squirters but those are easily machined in or can be left out as many people have chosen to delete the squirters entirely.

I just brought in these photos of a long block 4g61? assembly that were posted on Ebay a while back. You will have to enlarge/zoom the screen in Chrome or Explorer or whatever browser you have because the photos are not loading for me when I click on them. Strange. Wanted to confirm if this was a 4g61 and not turbo, that it would have the appropriate hole for the knock sensor.

I'll snap a photo of the back of the engine tomorrow when I'm there. It has the threaded hole for a knock sensor.

Sorry I was so busy I didn't get a chance to take that photo for you, but all the bosses are drilled and threaded. I'm pretty sure the transmission is a 22 spline, because it's from a 90 DSM, but it's not for sale anyway.

I have a semi complete 4G61t long block for sale. It needs rockers, a valve cover and a knock sensor (I needed them for my 4G63), and it could use lifters, but is otherwise complete, and was running fine when I pulled it about a year ago. It's been sitting on a tire next to my car since then, lol.

I can pallet it and ship it from a business address, too, so it would be reasonably cheap to get it up there. I also have some cool go-fast parts to go with it if you're interested in them, too.

Here's the back of the block.

Here's a close up of the threaded hole. If you are actually intrested I can chase the threads for you so they actually show in pictures. Or you can go to Alabama and get the one with the squirters.

$70obo will get you the block and crank, you can even have the rods and N/A pistons, but you would have to pick it up.

I'll ask my cousin if he wants to take a roadtrip, but whats up with that awd trans first? =) If its forsale let me know the spline count.

I don't want to butt in on the other fellows here who have already responded, but I figured I'd throw out that I have a 4g61t block and I'm located in Leesburg, VA. I had planned to use it in the future but it's going to be awhile so I could part ways with it. I did not personally run this block but it looks to be in excellent shape. Rob, 89D15CRX on these boards, had this block and it was in a Colt I bought from him. I've since decided to go with a 4g63t so this will be sitting for awhile. It is on an engine stand at the moment so if interested, I could pop the oil pan and take some photos for you. PM me if interested. Again, I'd prefer you follow through with the other guys first since they've already put in some leg work to get you photos and info, but if they don't pan out then I could be a plausible alternative.
