Last night while browsing craigslist like I always do I came across a 91 5 speed galant for $1500. Clicked on the link and noticed that the guy said it was a turbo car and only 3,000 were made. My jaw hit the floor! I called and believe it or not he had just posted it up earlier that day and no one had called about it yet. I tried my best to go and look at the car last night at 8pm but the guy assured me that he wouldn't sell it before I had a chance to look at it and he got off the next day at 3:00. Well I was on my way to his place this afternoon (in the sleet and snow) and I picked up 814/2000. Its a white 91 (of course) with no sunroof and its bone stock, 146k on the clock. Its even still sporting the stock AF/FM cassette and CD player combo.

Here's the bad part. He purchased it from his aunt (the original owner) about a year ago after the car was vandalized while she was at the beach. I guess some theif saw something in the car that they had to have so they broke out some of the windows. The insurance company totalled the freaking car for this reason so it has a salvage title :banghead:. Oh well, its a rust free all stock GVR4 with decent miles and I picked it up for $1200 and drove it home an hour and a half so I'm not complaining.

Here are a few crappy pics of my new money pit that I stopped and took at the gas station on the way home. It needs a bath and plenty of TLC but I was grinning the entire way home.

Thanks guys! This is actually my 4th GVR4 and my 2nd white one. My other white one was a rust bucket from Ohio.

And before anyone asks, I'm not going to part my colt. As soon as it warms back up she will get some attention.

Nice score, and glad to see the tags from the pictures sport the galant website. Posted the VIN up, or is it already listed with the Iceman and his thread?

I couldn't find anything about it on the galant board so I'm sure the Iceman will appreciate the info.

I don't think I've ever owned a salvage car before, not that I can remember anyway. I'm sure I will have to insure it differently because if I were to wreck it or something it would not be worth the same as one that was not salvage. As far as registering it, that part should be the same.

Its a nice stock car, I will admit that. But its a lllooooonnnngggg way from mint for sure. I'll have it running and looking good in time though.

I still can't believe that I lucked up and found this thing, especially for the price. And so close to home.

Haha, my new rceord I think. I kept it 2 1/2 days.

A buddy of mine was looking to get back into dsm's after a 4-5 year vacation away from these things. I was telling him about the GVR4 that I just picked up, I even told him what I paid for it. Mentioned that I really needed a truck but couldn't turn this car down. He showed interest, I wanted 2k for it and we settled on $1800. So now I have a little more cash in my pocket to put towards a new DD. Plus I can still focus on a shop and my colt.
