Lately the board has been acting like I am on dial up with a 14k modem. Anyone else experience this. Greg

shared hosting.. you never know how much CPU you will get.

I'm in the process of seting up a colocated box, but I need to secure a minimum of $50 a month. Bandwidth costs are on top of that.

sorry.

I'm making just enough to cover the costs of my current host, however I'm not happy with the processing power that is available to me. The site just feels too dang slow. I'm not even close for covering the cost of the colo. I have the box, just gotta get it in the rack.

If you want a preview of how the server will feel on the new box, visit forum.4g61t.org.

Hey Paul, what is with the "bot" members on the board? They all signed up today. I was just wonering if this is something we should be worried about.

It is part of the upgrade.. now instead of seeing 400 guests on the site we can tell that yahoo and googlebot are beating the crap out of it instead.

Good eye... most people don't notice that :)

Other pages still load fine? It sounds like you may have some other issues going on...

I will look into it. I have a few tweaks for phpads that I wish to implement. That may help.

I keep getting a Critical Error from time to time. The page will be blank, and it will say-Critical Error Can't connect to server...or something like that.

can't connect to database.

the database server is loaded pretty heavy right now. I need to get some performance tweaks cooking for that.

For now if it happens just count to 5 and refresh. :)

That reminds me somehow of Bill Gates saying in the early Eighties that 640 kB should be enough for anyone. What tweaks are necessary and can we help somehow?
