Well it turns out that the squeaking coming from the front right wheel of the Lantra is not the brake pad indicators and is in fact an angry wheel bearing. :(

So, firstly does anyone know what the bearing part number is for these cars? Or are they the same as say a 90's Galant so that I can use that part number instead?

Basically Im trying to avoid going to the dealer because they will supply me with Hyundai Genuine parts which are Korean KBC crap and I want the parts ready before I disassemble the hubs (otherwise I would get the part numbers off the bearings themselves).

Save me from shite bearings! :D

CAPS (older version) gave me this number for both sides:

MB349416 (you would need 4x for the whole front end, 2x for one side alone - for those that didn't already know this part)
PNC 32510

Mitsu should get you the superceded numbers just by typing in the old ones. I got good bearings from KVR Best Price here in Ottawa, even saved a box.

These bearings should be exactly the same across the 89-92 CSM 92-95 E(Lantra) as shipped to North America. I'm not sure where the Lantra shipping time line lands you there. :-?

Galant that shows up under these characteristics gave me the #'s to follow:
Vehicle Code: 50E
Model Code: E33A
Classification: 2NXML2M
MB303865
PNC 32510C

I hope some of this helps you out in your quest. Does anyone have the listing from a newer version of CAPS than was posted at Team3s.com?

Thanks for that. The Mitsy part# should at least enable me to get a Jap replacement part.

Anyone happen to know the manufacturer bearing code? (Im getting really cheap here) Since then I can go to my bearing wholesaler and pick them up for ~$10ea.

Mitsubishi or Hyundai dont make bearings - they buy them off big companies like Toyo and KBC. I would like a manufacturer code off the bearing so that I can (without first disassembling my hubs) go to my bearing wholesaler and get them at a much reduced price.

The bearing wholesaler cannot tell me what bearing goes on what car and they do not have any ability of cross referencing car part numbers to actual bearing codes. They will just supply "X" number of parts coded "Y".

My Mitsubishi dealer (who is also my Hyundai dealer) charge around AUS$60ea for "genuine" wheel bearings when the wholesaler sell the exact same part to me at trade price (ok, it might be closer to $15ea). I virtually never buy bearings from the dealer since I can get the exact same Toyo/Timken/etc quality part at about 20-30% of the dealer price. I make it a point not to get ass-raped when I can avoid it!

So, now that I've justified my right to ask this question, anyone got a response that is a little more helpful than the last one?

lol, i was gonna say the same thing... but out of curiosity, how would people find out the numbers??? i mean, wouldn't it basically be the same as starting out with a bearing and then matching all the dimensions of said bearing to figure out what the oem number is?

The number is always stamped on the side of the bearing. It bears no relation to the Mitsy part# but the bearing code does effectively describe the dimensions, accuracyand internal construction of the bearing so that if you gave that code to someone familiar with bearing codes they would be able to tell you that the wheel bearings are in fact a tapered roller bearing with dimensions such and such etc and also order replacements directly using that number.

I was hoping someone might have an already split hub that they could quickly have a look and read the code off the side of the bearing for me.

Here is some light reading material on the subject:

Here is the Federal Mogul bearing box numbers that I used:

A-41
BCA Federal Mogul Bearings
Scan bar 7 24956 00114 9
Made in Japan
ISO4112

That's all I have from my end. If it helps good, if not, well I tried as far as I can go for now.

Looks like Mitsubishi have gone to some lengths to obscure the manufacturer P/Ns on their products. However looks like slaphead has found a aftermarket source for a bearing kit from SKF.

http://www.4g61t.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... 945#113945

SKF Kit P/N WBK1131 or VKBA1366 RP

I actually used a kit from SKF for the J1 Lantra's KM206 trans a few months back.

Thanks again for the help Flying Eagle!
