it looks as if I have the thicker csm vented rotors and there must be a pad that is thinner in the friction material area. All csm that i have seen with the 1.6's uses the mkd 328 brake pads. Crackerman suggest using a sander or the like to grind off some of the material and since they are lifetime pads, seems like an easy way out. But still would like to know the part number for the correct pads.
It may be possible that a different brand would just be thinner right out of the box. Are you sure the calipers aren't to blame?
I talked to Crackerman and he said that they are factory Gt calipers and brackets but previous owner got replacement rotors for the car. He is not sure what they were for.
Are the pistons fully compressed?

If the pistons are compressed fully, I would just try another brand of pads.

Yes they are compressed, fully into the body and actually the rubber seal sticks out further but they are not in the way.

I bet the pad manufacturer was trying to hook people up (or lure them in) by putting extra thick linings on there.

Make sure you mill the pads down perfectly level and evenly.

If it's not level you'll end up with the caliper pistons wedged crooked in the bores, and if they aren't flat, you'll have rust circles in the friction area of your rotors.

I would use a mill for that project.

Bumpers were already confiscated(did i spell that right?) my me. its a nt gt. My summit came with bumpers that were that rough texture finish and on top of that they are spray painted.

Got the pads shaved down and they turned out great. Just shaved some off the outside pads so I wouldnt have any issues like you said.
