I think my sensor is toast, can i use my 1G TSI sensor? also its never been replaced so how am i going to get it off? i stand behind the car and i cant stand the smell. I'm not sure whats with the car, i dont think its my cat or muffler, i got some nastiness coming out of it...also, the car bogs could it be the sensor or ecu on its way south? i just replaced the injectors and put some treatment through....can any one give me some feedback.
It wont pass emission and i dont know what to do about it.
Thanks
-Dom

Berserko, why shouldn't he be able to use it? He just has to wire the extra heater wires to GND and to the purge control solenoid (sp?).

ive got an o2 sensor prob aswell...smells like crap!

ive been told that after 100,000 kms (yes im in australia) which is about 60,000 miles i think they become officially shagged...

the o2 controls the air/fuel under 2000rpm while the ecu controls it above that. they are cheap to buy...

anyone else in aus??

If it actually smells like crap then that's your cat going out. And I don't know about in the land of Oz, but the o2 sensor keeps track through the whole power band. It's how the ECU knows what's up.

if you run your car with no o2 sensor the car idles as rich as ya mum...this happens all the way until 2000rpm...where the ecu takes over.

if i reset my ecu, and get a new o2, will that stop my car from running rich?

The ECU controls A/F mixture in closed-loop which is sustained from idle to a certain rev limit (4000...5000 revs), and if the coolant is warm, and the throttle isn't moved w/ more then a certain speed or amount.
To learn more about open- and closed-loop modes, read the DSM ECU primer somewhere on the net.

You could try resetting your ECU, but I doubt it will gain anything. A new O2 sensor AND resetting the ECU will probably solve the whole problem.
