Does anyone know of any good tracks to use as a "test cd" to fine tune audio systems? i know a few but im always open to new things. i dont care if its rap, trance, classical, or whatever. anything is fine, just as long as it has a lot of detail such as acustic or so on

you want a song that has a full rang of everything in it. Try sublime... thats what i used for my tuning. Now I have it how i want. Never use a burnt cd because the audio is never true with them.

Uh, no.

A CD is a digital copy so it is the same. 0 still is 0 and 1 still is 1. I can prove this to you in Linux if you so desire. I hope you don't though because I'm lazy. (basicly, DD an audio track right off a pressed disk, burn it to a new disk, DD it off the new disk. Compare files (md5sum is always fun)).

I assume you mean don't use a disk burnt from MP3's or some other lossless format. Now THAT is not true to the original recording (but usually good enough for casual listening).

as paul said, just make sure you're burning it with at least a 1:1 ratio for the bitrate. Going higher than the original won't do anything, but going lower will deteriorate the sq. oh yeah, i use a couple different cd's for sq. i'll use some of my mom's classical cd's for the highs and higher mids and then some disturbed or static-x or something heavy on bass for the lows and low mids. then usually otep or something with a lot of highs and lows all together. just my .02

Use a Daft Punk cd, they're some crazy european techno duo, they use a lot of everything in their music and it sounds really clear on a fine tuned system.

Yes I was talking about music you find off "Napster, Limewear, Bearshare....." stuff like that. If you burn a CD from another CD or with a 1:1 then yes it would be the same. I didn't make myself clear...sorry my bad lol. I did mean Mp3 and the such. I have burnt many cds using mp3 format and the sound is just awful sometimes. :x

I've always hear Queen was good for testing stuff, as well as 311.
