if you dont allready know, I have a 1992 colt with the 4g15 in it.... for the last week or so, right when i turned it over for the first time each day, it ran ROUGH for no more than a minute or so, then it would run fine...

on my way back home to appleton last night, it never got out of "the running rough stage"

since then i have changed the oil (it was 2k miles overdue)
changed the spark plug wires
and changed the cap and rotor...

the kicker is that it runs beautiful until you press on the gas....
as soon as you hold the gas in(a little or alot) it runs crappy......

i was thinking it was the TPS or possibly the plugs... anyone have any other possiblities????

thanks in advance
shawn

i little update for all of you.... so far i have.....

-checked all vacuum lines, and the pcv valve
-changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor
-changed oil and filter

BUT since its almost dark, and its snowing now  .... ill wait til tomorrow to..

-replace the TPS with one that works

if its the ECU... im thinking that it would smell burnt or show leaking....correct??

any other thoughts????

thanks in advance again guys....

if you have been through your ignition side, then that really only leaves fuel, mechanical and ecu. i would replace your fuel filter and check your ecu board for leaky electro caps. (fi just replace the caps while u got the ecu out)
check compression
maybe try and borrow another ecu to try out
also your injectors may be dirty or clogged, or u might have a leaky injector seal
abt the tps, my 91 excel will run with it disconnected, so i think this might not cause such extreme problems.
if u have a timing light, check for ignition advance(retard?) when u give the motor a rev. if not, then your ecu or the sensors in your dissy are stuffed
hope this gives u some other things to try

Nope not nessicarilly Myy ECU dies no signs of leakage or damage or anything the caps do dry out over time and remember this extends to more than just mitsubishis I had my home DVD player this weekend would power up but act very intermittant drawer would open some times and not others I pulled the power supply out changed all the caps on the high voltage side and out it back together it is good as new works awesome. Cheap chinesse garbage DVD player I can't get rid of it because its an APEX (anyone in the DVD know knows what an APEX is) ;)
