its is called aldl.Search the VFAQ's for tips to make your own scan tool. It can be made for like 2-3 bux

It's OBD-I.

Each manufacturer had their own proprietary OBD-I data protocol. There is no universal scanner like there is with OBD-II. I assume you already know this, but I'd hate to see an unpleasant surprise. If your buddy has something similar to a Snap-On scanner with the Asian cartridge, you should be OK.

Or, you could follow the lead if 91_LaserRS.
