What is the purple after effect on that floor pan outer? Is that a rust converter product? Progress being made, enjoying the updates.

A cheap 5' led light caused that, luckily its all rust free under there. Rear outside rockers and a spot on the drivers side wheel well under the engine mount are all the rust I've found so far which should be pretty easy to cut out and make some patch panels.

Update time! Its been a busy two months since the last update and unfortunately not much for my car but the good news is that Aarons car is running and should be at Shootout!

Lets start with the 1 piece driveshaft, I started working with DSS on building a 1 piece shaft for the car back in January. We ended up doing a cf shaft due to critical speed issues that come with a shaft of this length. tcase seal to pinion flange was 74 5/8. We ended up using a smaller diameter cf tube than what they normally run. I can't recall off the top of my head but I think this is a 3.1 where the standard is 3.8
Image

At the same time I sent in a set of oem 3kgt axles to have them shortened and have a bar upgrade done.

Image]

In order to clear the ds the floor was going to have to be modified. I started by drilling out the center section that reinforces the tunnel where the oem seat belts bolted in.
Image
Original plan was to section the stock tunnel.

I didn't care for the way things were headed. I don't have the fabrication tools needed to make the bends needed to have a quality piece so out the oem section came.

Image

I bought a HF basic brake and used some scrap 16g steel to make a new section.

Floor prep before new section is welded in.

I ended up doing a stitch weld on the front section along with doing a plug weld on the front, sides and rear cap. The two pieces were also welded together underneath in the rear.

More parts! Found an sfi approved qr by nrg!

Test fitting the new wheel, sans one bolt

I decided to sell my 6870 and put a 7685 on the car. This is a comparison between a gt42 housing 7675 and my 6870. The 7685 should be identical in dimensions so this will be used for mock up.

7685 just fits

A sneak peak at some custom billet for the Colt.

Do I see access plates in the rear suspension towers, to allow for wrench access for height changes on the fly without having to remove the struts?

Great job as usual man. I can only imagine how many hours you have spent so far. It's worth it though.

Nothing cool like that unfortunately, shock towers are 100% stock front and rear. Height and dampening adjustment can all be done easily from below the car.

Thanks! I'm trying to keep everything stock appearing from the exterior and I'd like the car to appear pretty basic looking. There are some things that I just wont be able to avoid like a hood exit exhaust and one of the wg dumps will likely also have to exit the hood. Its just so tight everywhere.

The cage looks awesome, great job once again. That interior would look perfect in white  . Are you going to paint the outside of the car as well?

Thanks, plan is to paint everything metal on the chassis white and then likely wrap the exterior of the car. I'm hoping this winter to get several of the body panels molded to make some composite items like doors, hatch, hood etc.

Still waiting on a ton of parts but hoping to start making real progress on the front end this week. Dan is parting the Colt out so I was able to pick up the manifold and finally get the forward facing setup I wanted.

Image

The original plan was to go with a Haltech elite 2500 (which is for sale) which is a great ecu imo but is lacking a few things that I wanted in order to try a few ideas out so thanks to a friend of a friend I was able to get into a MoTeC m150. Up to this point everything I have ever ran was either a stock ecu with things like hpt or link and a couple cars with old series 1 aem. I've always had great luck with the others so I hope this m150 can last for a long time.

That turbo and intercooler setup is insane. When I think back at how scary my little 4g63t swapped colt was with a 16g I can't even imagine how it would be with your setup.

Keep the updates coming and great work as usual.
