what are your thoughts/plans on this new acquire?
are you gonna crack it open first?
I'd be so tempted to install and go, then sort things out from there.

its 7bolt right? from watching Lancerman's build I'd say at least check the end play on the crank and/or install the revised thrust bearing.
Then what about the trans.

I just bought a Kiggley flexplate for my newly acquired rvr trans and I'm going to install as is to get a feel for it.
As soon as i know its good i think i will install the shift kit, it seems like a good idea.

Do they make a seven bolt flex plate that attaches to the 1g style three bolt converter? I thought they only made 1g and 2g flex plates?

As far as the engine goes I'm pulling the valve cover and installing a set of BC springs and 272 cams. I'll be swapping out the valve seals while it's apart and putting in a set of ARP'S, new vc gasket and cam seals. Everything is being changed on the timing side along with the water pump, that's about it. I'm not too worried about crank end play especially with it being auto and never modded.

I've got a Aeromotive fuel pump going in too and a leftover Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, I'm addressing the crappy oem filter too by using a adapter and running a -6 inline fliter to rail.

Still need to figure out what would be the easiest ecu to use though, I have x2 1g ecmlink with eprom here and a 2g eprom and a 2g black box.

Sounds like a good plan, I'm excited for you it's going to be a super neat wagon now. Swapping the head gasket too Or putting in one stud at a time? Its all a first for me but I've heard of people doing that.

Shoot I didn't know 1g converters are 3 bolt. My rvr trans came with a 4 bolt converter? My 32 trans did have a 3 bolt flexplate though. Maybe you just get really lucky with an rvr trans and it's the best of both worlds. Check yours

Ahhh, I think the 1g style maybe the 31's? I'll check tomorrow. I was only worried about the 1g style because they tend to break, I don't think the 4 bolt converters have that problem at modest power. And yeah one bolt/stud at a time with the ARP'S.

Decided to go with a 2g ecu since it's the easiest to rewire/re-pin, they're really close but different all at the same time. Think 2g sensors(with the exception of a rear o2) in OBD1 form. Also a 2g has four ecu plugs, three of which are the same on the rvr/evo harness so I only have to add the small "B-55" plug. Lol and it'll only have 2 wires going in and 2 coming out to the obd2 port. It would be nice if I could find someone who wanted to swap my 1g link v3 for a their 2g link v3.

I might put this down in a neater word document here in the next few days, but here's the start of a rough copy.

RVR trans is essentially a 1g Auto inside a modified 2g case (the rear roll stop is the modified part). So, WA33's are all 4-bolt convertor, just like the 1g's.

Good to know, thanks. I went ahead a purchased a IPT shift kit and Redline ATF yesterday. Man that fluid definitely hurts the wallet so instead of wasting it in a few hundred miles when I decide I need a shift kit, I went ahead and bought one. Now I am trying to decide what kind of shift box and shifter I am going to run.

I like the idea of the 3g eclipse shifter. It looks like you can retain all the automatic shifting and then by sliding the shifter to the right get the manual mode plus higher line pressure etc.

That link is hard to find because tiptronic is misspelled triptronic. I was searching forever Maybe a mod could correct the title

I have a PDF writeup for this that I can email. I performed the install with Robert/riceless90. It is for the $99 ForcedFour box, but should wire up like the newer boxes.
