What axles do I need? I am reusing my Summit trans, the 2G AWD trans look really similar. The Eagle front CV axles fell apart when I pulled them. They were just hammered. The DSM ones look different so I assume I need new Summit axles? Are they unique?

I believe you should use the 2g awd trans.

Maybe you could press the dsm 5 lug hubs into the expo knuckles, and then use the 27 spline dsm axles...I'm not sure if it would work i'm just thinking out loud, but there has got to be a fix I know dsm guys have swapped in 2g trans into 1gs so it has to be possible somehow, maybe a set of custom axle that has 27 splines on the trans side to fit dsm trans, but 25 on the hub side... perhaps you can take an outer cv axle with 25 splines from a junkyard mitsu car and make a go between to the 2g axles.

There is a build in the wagon section regarding this exact topic. Guy put a 2g awd manual trans in his wagon. Belive it's "Micah"

The trans look mostly the same other than some casting differences and the shifter linkage. Wouldn't a 4G64 have the same trans? I don't care which one I use just curious.

I will look for the build thread. Hard to find wagon threads that still have pics up.

looks like your right all awd 2g dsms have 25 splines on both sides, I did some more research, and found out the 2g fwd turbo eclipse's, both auto and manual, have 25 splines on the trans side and 27 on the hubs, I guess you learn new things everyday.

I haven't even compared them yet. I will check them out and see if I can just use the DSM 2G fronts.

Did the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, pulley, front main seal today.

Something in there was definitely leaking, hoping front main seal as it didn't even seem snug. Is the oil pump a common area to leak from? Is there even a gasket in there?

keep us updated mandelore if you ever try the 2g axles in your wagon.

i would like to know if they are the same fitment wise too. i know someday im going to want to put a 1g or 2g trans in my car if i ever swap it,
whether auto or manual i dont know yet but i do know i will need a turbo model trans for durability in the long run and rvr trans dont really seem to be an option anymore.

Haven't explored axles yet except I see different part #'s online.

Why am I having such a hard time finding an ECU pinout for the 4G64 online? It also came in Galant's of similar years. I just need a comparison to know what wires to move/add.

Black Friday sales from STM and Extreme PSI, looking forward to updating the tired old engine.

Wire pin-outs may be pretty close to the Eclipse Spyder with the 2.4

I did find one of those. They have 4 plugs like the GSX harness I think though? I'll look again. I think the 94-95 Galant had the same ecu so I'm looking for a fsm.

When I was going to swap my former 94 Summit wagon, I had a 2g Turbo harness I was going to use. Was perfect but I traded the project for a built motor

I will check again, the only results I've seen lately are an $180 set for Expo FSM's.
