Never thought we'd actually be talking about a barn find DSMs in Ohio with how fast they rust out, but on the first trip to my new house I was going down a road I have never been down before, and saw a Galant in a field. I said to my buddy "man, that looked like a Vr-4, lets turn around and check it out".

Long story short, that was the first day it saw light in 13 years!!! No joke. Ended up tracking down the owner, and he said he parked it when he moved his business years and never had to time to come back for it. The property was old, and everyone was getting the boot so that the only reason it was outside, that day. He was just going to tow it to another property of his and let it sit! what are the chances...

Initially he did not want to sell due to sentimental value. Last week he called me and said come and get it. he would rather I have ti than try to sell it to someone that didn’t know what they were looking at and didn’t appreciate it. Wow! Not sure what will come of this but we will see....

I will keep the updated coming while I have them. Initial inspection is rust in odd spots from sitting (luckily on an old concrete floor) but body is pretty clean. Interior I think will clean up to 9.5/10. She is BONE stock. All accessories work with a jump box, so that bodes well for the wiring. It will not crank though, but I hear things happening LOL. Motor turns smooth by hand.

Stay tuned...

Damn, that's lucky as hell. If you clean it up well enough you may be able to flip it for quite a profit.

As long as the car hasn't been worked on by the uninitiated, which it appears to not have been, you should have some bugs to work out, but may just have a solid rig to work on/with. The guys on the Galant board will love this one.

Good on ya for spotting it and finding out the details that quickly.

Very cool story, seems like fate to me. I was born in 1977 so that's pretty damn cool too. Only one 1977 GVR4 out there and you have it. Can't wait to see the progress.

Thanks guys

Update is meh. Was where the car is now (a buddie's shop) so I had some time to work on it. Shockingly the battery took a charge! Would not crank. Tested starter, starter OK. Ended up being a bad clutch switch.

SO now it cranks smooth. Oil looks GREAT. No start. No fuel. Gauge reads empty. Wen to add fuel, fuel comes out! Tear in hose. Called it a day!

The good news, paint seems nice! This was 10 minutes or work. Paint has a very heavy flake that looks great in person. Anyone know what this paint code is?

No start but hey, progress is progress.

Stock color is Nile Black. Not sure if they have that much flake though. They were only available in Summit White, Belize Green and Nile Black in 1991. They added Kensington Gray in 1992.

Slow with updates as this has been low ont he priority list! So far, I found a bad switch connection keeping it from turning over. Fixed- so we got it to crank.

Tried to put gas in it, and the tank/hose was bad. Lukliy they had a Gvr-4 tank otuside (the shop its at has 3 Gvr-4s) swapped in new tank, added gas, and tried to start. No NOID. Fugured bad ecu. Swaped in a spare and it FIRED RIGHT UP! Idles great.

Current issues before any test drive can be attempted.

Clutch wont diengauge. Thinking a hydrolic issues

Brake leak. Only one so far

Rear PS leak-I will cap all that off.

Brakes even work??

But hey, progress is progress.

So, I was approached by a local Galant efficonato about purchasing the car. The Money was more than right, and it was about the best place the car coudl be to live a long and happy life, so we made the deal. He plans to pick up where I left off, and do a full resto on the car. He already has a mint Vr4, Mint GSx, and has moved several over the years.

This is where the sotry ends- for now!
