so I finally found a 92 expo i could afford..unfortunately its fwd 5 speed.. I was very picky looking for a 92,white,auto,awd,3 door only one for the past year.. a member on here had 1 but I couldnt afford it :(..

so this past week I found one in southern cal. its a SP model.. 7 seater 4 door 5 speed. he was asking 900 (which I paid that amount) said it had new water pump, rad, t-belt and tires.. his mechanic told him it had a blown head gasket.. so I arranged to get it from him and booked a flight from reno to palm springs..

in the pic on the cl ad it looked like a 3 door which is what I wanted. when I got there i instantly noticed it was 4 door.. int was near immaculate.. just a lil stain on the rear cargo area.. I paid him for it (reason I paid full amout he was asking was he picked me up from the airport 30 min from his house.. let me work on it in his garage and use his tools..he also let me spend the night so I didnt have to rent a motel room)

so i look the van over then started it. let it warm about 10 min.. 0 smoke.. checked the rad and hoses..top one and rad was cold and bottom was hot.. it started to heat up (on the gauge)..and fan never came on.... went to auto zone..bought a t-stat and gasket.. along with tune up parts.. put new stat in and bam... no over heating..fan came on and everything..(let it idle about 40 min).. he was shocked and I was super happy. drove it from palm springs to carson city (about 9 hr drive) and the gauge never once got over 1/3 the way up.. most cars the needle will go right in the middle of the gauge..this was well below that.

so all in all I got a killer deal on this even tho its not my dream one..but I had a blast driving it..(i think with labor they paid more for the t belt/water pump rad and tires than what I paid for it... with full tune up and new wipers im into it for 1100 ish.. i had to add water 2 times over the 550+ mile trip but maybe a total of 1/2 gallon.. so im not sure if theres any leaks or anything ill look more into this next week and see whats up..

I took some pics but to tired to upload them right now so ill try to do it tomorrow.

I think it has all available options.. it has cruise..5 speed..2.4..power windows and locks..sunroof..and a working clock lol.. not sure what other options were available..

the small trim piece just in front of rear D/S tire is missing.. and looks like they had a small dog that hung out the window and scratched it by the D/S door handle...

the 1.8 im pretty sure have a smooth valve cover.. spark plugs ar in the back and dist is on pass side... the 2.4's have plugs in front and dist on d/s rear of block... I could be wrong tho.

do you have any idea how clean your car is?
I searched daily for 6 months on craigslist. saw 100s and 100s for sale. I would put this is the top 5 from what I saw.
you got a steal for the price you paid. hope you have plans for it. that is a keeeeper

Very nice Steve, sunroof too! I bet the guy was a little pissed that you got it running so cheap  . Sounds like a cool guy though to let you stay there and work on it.
