I'm not looking for 50k miles from these. I will get a good year until I put on some agx's. I have always had good luck with Monroe's. Only ones that have failed were on crappy lowering springs. That is not an issue here.

The bird dropped 1st gear syncros, so it is sitting now. Looking to get the swap done by the end of next week. Have some good weather coming up next week so will give it a shot.

I also installed the diff with the LSD in the spare turbo tranny that will be going in, can't wait for the traction.

It was a beautiful day (mid 40's, sunny). So time to get the swap moving!!! Engine and harness are out, wally 255 installed. Now just to clean the bay, install the harness and the 4g63t/lsd tranny combo on Saturday.

That is what I have used so far. I will use some degreaser too as there is a bit of accumulation way down low, pretty thick. I also see that I need to replace my brake MC as it is leaking.

I used some stuff that I found at AutoZone that comes in a dark blue bottle called Super Clean and it blows Purple Power and Simple Green out of the water and it's cheaper. I'm telling y'all, the next time you're at AutoZone pick yourself up a bottle of this stuff to try, you won't be disappointed.

They really raised the price of the Super Clean, it was DOUBLE the Purple Power price. So I got some degreaser and some Purple Power. Got the wife (with a little help from my grandson) to get in and clean the engine bay. She got it sparkling. We got the 4g63t pulled from the black colt, swapped the flywheel for an ACT flywheel, and swapped out the old style ACT 2600 pressure plate (too heavy for my wife to drive) for a new ACT 2600 that is loads lighter. Then installed the LSD equipped tranny on the motor and dropped it in Little-bird. We then put my spare turbo tranny on the 1.5 and dropped it in the Black colt. We then doscovered this will not work since the starter will not engage the flywheel. So, off came the tranny and we put in the F5M22 in it. Much better, plus all gears engaged with the motor running, so maybe the syncros are ok. Just need to finish removing the battery relocation so it can be used in Little-bird, and reassemble the interior and the black colt will be back to stock and in it's new home with my middle child. Little bird will have another day or two before it is running.

Got the black colt on the road yesterday. Found the clutch master was leaking on the Yellow colt, causing the tranny issues. Good thing since you cant get the starter to engage on a turbo tranny in a 1.5. Only issue is it is having trouble in some gears (engaging fully) not sure if it is the shift lever or the cable bracket on the tranny. I know the bracket is from a manual colt, but it is different than what I had from the black colt on the turbo tranny.

Left is what I already had, right is from a manual colt:

The Wife actually enjoys helping. She pointed out the missing paint below the clutch master cylinder so that solved my tranny issue. She normally will get out there and turn some wrenches. She is stealing my Summit Wagon from me. She plans on helping install the turbo motor and harness. She even had me buy her a box of diamond grip gloves, so not she has to help!!!

I use those gloves, all day, every day at work.

If the brackets have the slightest difference, you need a different bracket.
Ask 89Mirageman which brackets work between turbo and NA Colt transmissions.
He got me a set.

Yea, the set O got seems to be the set that isn't working, at least with the 3g shifter. I hit the JY and the bracket on the 4-speed colt is the same as what I was sent. Maybe I need to off-set it a bit for a turbo tranny install. Son is going to experiment until we can get a 4g shifter.

Damn, it took me 4 years to get that black Colt to where it was running right and behaved well on the road and now its got the stock motor back in it. Oh well, at least it's still in one piece and not compacted into a cube.

I think that you might have said something before that you liked it better when it was red and I never fully explained why I painted it. First of all, I told you that it's been wrecked a few times. Well after one of the accidents the repair shop decided just to paint half of the car and not touch the other half so it had a bright and shiny front and a noticeably darker and faded rear. Also I had never painted a car before (with a gun and compressor) and I've always liked that Java Black Pearl paint so I went to it. I got a lot of complements on that color and paint job. The Bondo behind the passenger door where the body rolls into the rear wheel well lip is from me because it was rusting there and the metal was dimpled. I never got to replace the twisted upper rad mount.

Anyway, like I said before, it's just good to see that it went to someone that isn't going to give up on it and scrap it. I'm happy to see that it's going to stay in the family.
