As many of you know I recently installed K Sport coil overs on my Mirage. I'd like to give you a little overview of my thoughts on them, but remember this is only my opinion, and I'm not anywhere near a suspension expert.

My car had Koni Yellows on all 4 corners when I originally purchased it. The fronts blew, so I ordered replacements, it took for ever to get them. In the mean time the rear was a bit too soft for me, so I changed to AWD AGX's with AWD rear springs. I had tabs welded on the rear axle to make it sit at stock height at this time. It road horrible, but the rear didn't squat as bad.

Anyway I wanted to lower the car a little, and still retain drive ability, I had a friend who just started a business, and he offered me the K sports at his cost... I couldn't say no.

Install was pretty standard... adjust to a height, install... remove adjust height, etc. On my car the rear had to be adjusted further down to accommodate the modifications I had to run AWD struts. I just used large zip ties to attach the brake line bracket to the strut.

Fist thought were that they were stiff, not too bad, but I had been driving my Evo and it was definitely stiffer than the stock suspension on it. I checked and they were almost all the way stiff (had 2 clicks left to full stiff). I decided the leave them at that, and drive it for a while.

I drove it in the recent Rally Dixie 2012, pictures of the car can be found below.

http://www.parkerphotog.com/Automotive/ ... &k=xMXcqZZ

The car handles completely different now, it is a bit stiff on bumps, but it really rides well. I think it really livened up the suspension. I had no complaints driving it the some 1400 miles of the road rally. I'm sure it could be softened up a bit, but I'm content where it is. The struts are fully capable of lowering the car more than mine is, I just don't see a point in it. I didn't get a chance to run the figure 8 during the rally, I was working on fan issues at that time, however at the drag strip, it seemed not to squat as bad as it use too, and the curvy roads it would plant and go!

This has really brought back the fun factor to this car. I'd recommend them!

I'm hoping Aaron will chime in with his thoughts, since he road with me on the rally!

I wish I would have gone this route with my CSM back when I had it. I probably would have liked it a lot more.

It rode really nice no complaints from me. I kind of wish I would have called them and tried to get some custom stuff set up but I was impatient and wanted my car back on the road.

I know K-Sports used to have a problem with the struts blowing out a lot. Don't know if they overcame that issue or not. They also used to have a terrible customer support when said issue came up. Knew someone who had a Acura Legend with K-Sport coils. One blew out in three months, pretty much told him to kick rocks and he had to buy a new one.

I have a few friends that Auto Cross on K Sports, for the price they have no complaints, and have no issues. I had one of those guys help me set up the ones on my car.

I'm not saying K Sports don't have issues, because if you google any company your going to find someone out there unhappy. I couldn't find anyone with first hand experience with them on a CSM (other than BowDowns old car, but he had the road race version). That is what I'm trying to offer here. They ride good, offer height adjustment, and really improved the handling of my car.

Hey man, do you have any idea if the top hats have the built in caster? By that I mean is the centre slightly offset like the factory top hats?

I need some top hats to fit my BC Gold Evo 1-3 coilovers into the Cyborg, would be nice if I could buy bolt-in KSports rather than going custom.

Yes they are offset just like the stocks. Faster isn't adjustable to the best of my knowledge.

Oh sweet! Gonna have to pick up a pair for myself I think. It's a shame the 4WD rear suspension is different otherwise i'd just invest in a complete set, instead I have to frankenstein some R32 Skyline BC struts with VR-4 mounts and custom springs #-o

Hey are you still after a license plate bracket?

I'm 95% sure they will work on the rear of an Awd...

They'll fit up, yeah. But the rear will be up in the clouds haha. If you've ever seen GVR4 rear struts you'll know they're quite a bit shorter than CSM hatch struts. The C83A struts are even shorter than VR-4 ones. I have VR-4's at the moment and at the lowest setting the car basically sits at factory height.

One of the other Kiwi guys has already gone through the dramas of figuring out how to get the car low at the back, ended up using R32 GTS-t BC struts (all BC struts are basically the same, just different length, the R32 ones are short as hell), Evo 1-3 bottom mount, Evo/VR-4 top mount, and a 160mm spring. Sounds like a PITA but really it just sucks shelling out the money for the individual parts.

My car was set up for AWD Dsm struts on the rear. We welded tabs on them for the shorter strut. I uses these tabs, and there was still room to lower the car even more.

Hmm interesting. I wonder how short AWD DSM struts are compared to 4WD Cyborg ones. If I had to guess i'd say they're something similar to VR-4's?

Here's what to4garret runs in the back of his 4WD Borg for reference (sorry for jacking your thread)
