So I got my Mirage about 2 years ago. And after not too much thought and consideration, I've worked up the nerve to do it!

I've taken the fitment measurements onto the "blue-print" today before I started to really get into the meat of things. :D

I know you guys want pictures and you will have them Sunday 1/15/12.

I'm very excited to be doing this!

Not sure that's been done before. I like it.

It makes the car actually fun to drive around on the street.

Mounted on the Handbrake for extra control! :yawinkle:

Last pic is to prove its actually AWD

Thus far I've just been getting all the measurements down and its great to know that the AWD will physically fit in the Mirage! :D

Question to all my fellow members: Am I really the first to attempt doing an AWD + IRS conversion to a C10 Mirage?

Thank you very much!

Minor setback but I'm sure I can find some parts somewhere:

It looks like its going to be RWD rather than AWD for a while because I cannot find the parts to convert it in the front. (91 Colt GT driver axle.)
*also its going to be a 4G63T swap.

Question!

If the Mirage is RWD for the time being that means that the GSX transfer case with split the power 60/40 correct? Also, to make the RWD work correctly, I need to "LOCK" the Transfer cases differential?

If you buy and install a viscous coupling eliminator (replaces the viscous coupling in the trans), your power ratio will be 50/50. I ran an 1G AWD trans in my FWD Mirage with this and everything was fine. It's really easy to install as well.

Your transfer case pretty much just points the power to the rear wheels.

Thanks for the help! I will definitly look into that!

Question: What is the most powerful C10 mirage? rough numbers are acceptable.

Do it right and go AWD. You will put less strain on the tiny rear anyways. You can get the parts, I'll PM you with turboshawns number. He has hookups throughout the automotive community. I got 3 axels from him so far.

Small update but no pictures.

I've spent most of the day removing the dashboard, shifter cables, center console, water meth injection, SAFC, and ECU/Wiring harness. Also I scored a HX35 today for near nothing. (perhaps pictures later?)

I really look forward to getting this into the Mirage!

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Breakfast of champions!

Update!

I sent off the HX35 to be cleaned and ceramic coated.

And I finished getting all of the wiring harness out of the car to sell for scrap.

As far as fab or REAL progress goes: The ECU/Wiring harness is out of the car and I've done more measuring and cutting.

I've done a "Blueprint" on the inside of the mirage to hold up to being "true" and square.
This coming week (As long as the weather holds up) I will do my first real test fit!

Pictures to come! :D

Also.. I can't figure out how to get the shifter cables out of the Talon.. I feel like an idiot. I disconnected the cables from the trans and from the firewall and from the factory mounts... Can someone lend me some guidance?

I got those ones! :D But I'm talking about the ones that are... I guess crimped? or crushed? on the metal brackets.
