I intend to go reach 300whp on a stock 4g61t on 91 octane. why this number? Because its even, looks pretty, and is within sub-supercar territory. Why 91 octane? Because that’s all that is freely available at every pump in CA/AZ, without traveling out of the way. why the stock 4g61t? Because I only have 65,000 miles on a nice motor. To top it all off I want to create a map that will pass emissions. I also intend for the car to look stock and to use only tasteful components. A tall order, that I don't know if I'll achieve. I won't move to the build thread unless I actually finish the build.

Mods I'm looking to buy in the next week or so (I have 2500 to spend):
1. ECM Link lite
2. FP race exhaust manifold
3. Genuine MHI evo3 16g
4. ACT 2100 clutch kit for a 90-94 fwd N/A Eclipse
5. 720 CC Greddy/Nippon/Denso injectors
6. 2g maf
7. cheapo manual boost controller
8. Walbro 190 fuel pump for a 90-94 FWD Eclipse
9. Locally made 3" aluminized steel custom cat back exhaust. I'm going for quiet
10. High flow cat. and same size test pipe.

Stuff I got:
1. 90 EEPROM ECU
2. Autometer Boost Gauge.
3. 2g 2.5 inch throttle body elbow.
4. All black 2.5 inch intercooler piping and black couplers
5. 2.5 inch intercooler

Stuff I'm not sure about:
1. I want to find a place that sells a full 3" turbo back down pipe, or a o2 housing eliminator and a compatible full 3" downpipe. If not I'll just get the evo3 housing and do the old 2.5->3 inch downpipe.
2. I want the highest flowing throttle body/intake manifold that will fit a 4g61t... I was thinking a 4g61t intake that is ported to accept a 90 4g63t throttle body or somehow use a 2g intake manifold and a "?" throttle body.
3. If I can feasibly make 300hp on these mods. but if I make 270whp and I can still use 91 octane I'll still be happy.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Not gonna happen, not without upgraded cams, and you're not passing smog with upgraded cams. It will be really hard to do it on a 16g AND a 1.6, since 300whp is barely possible on a 2.0 liter using 91 octane.

Your list is solid, but like I said, you'll need bigger cams. Ditching the 2g MAF in favor of a GM MAFT setup would be better. You'd also be better off using a test-pipe instead of a cat. It's not that lofty of a goal if you admit to yourself that it's not gonna pass smog that way.

Yeah, but make sure you set it up for blow-thru, not draw-thru like a normal MAF. You need the translator box and the MAF itself. I have a 3" MAF for sale if you're interested.

I will run link which process the gm sensor directly. EDIT: because of this I can't buy the lite version of ecmlink/dsmlink, I need the full v3.

I suggest to run E85 if it's readily available in your area. E85 + BIG injectors+ high boost = 300+hp

No meth, no e85, no big cams....all in all, it will be an interesting experiment to find out how much hp a 4g61t can output, in a true streetable setup. the goal is 300hp but I'll be okay with reliable high 200's.

I got a really, really, really good deal on link, and link has lots of support, so for right now I'm with link.

My setup is VERY streetable I'm on the evo3 16g and I'm hitting the dyno next month, I'm looking for 350 on a mustang dyno via e85.

E-85 isn't truly streetable for me with a 10 gallon tank, if it brings my MPG way down, and I have to drive a while to a place that sells E-85. This is my daily driver (even though I don't drive much).

But if you know what you're doing tuning wise(assuming you get dsmlink) You can always modify your fuel settings for pump gas if you're around an area that doesn't sell e85.

I'm running pure e85, it's economical, it's readily available in my area, and there's no good reason not to.

From your standpoint I understand why you wouldn't run strictly e85, but what I would recommend is getting an e85 map for when you go out crusing/racing/hitting the dyno, and then a pump gas map for daily commuting.

You will be able to push the limits far more on e85 than pump, 30psi and a ton of timing yet no knock on e85 is an excellent thing<3.

Roughly you should see between 14-20mpg on e85 depending how gentle you are on the gas pedal. 10 gallon tank, 14 mph, that's 140 miles, and in my area right now it was 2.19 a gallon today. :)

wishihadatalon on this board is a wiz with tuning megasquirt. He put it on his fiance's 2g DSM and she gets 28mpg using E85 and the car makes a lot of power for its setup. It's certainly possible to get decent mpg using it. On the other hand, another friend of mine uses E85 in his Volvo and gets like 12mpg. Go figure.
