Just to let everyone know how this set up worked , we killed the 4g15 last saturday night at the track . The driver decided to ignore the temp guage reading of 250 + degrees for several laps and melted the engine . Inside the head the aluminum around the plugs was melted to the threads of the spark plugs and cylinders 2 and 3 were scored horribly where it began to sieze up .
This was 100 % driver stupidity and not the engines fault even if it may have been averted by running a larger rad . No engine is going to take that kind of temp while running it to redline lap after lap . I will say it was running very strong and just a tick slower then the Honduh 1600 16 valve ZC engines before it fried . This was probaly our best set up for top end power 5000 -7000 rpm but i would not recomend it for street use since it ran like crap when it was cold and the top end increase seemed to be at the expense of low end power .
As i stated in another post we are going to go to either a 4g63 or 4g64 and see how much abuse they will take before they grenade .
Hell for $400 USD for a JDM 4G64 why the hell not? It will produce MUCH torque and be easier to mod than the 4G15. I think you'll be pleased when you're all done with it. You better keep us updated. I'm interested to see how it runs and drives with that motor.
