Back in 2011 I was in need of a new daily driver, when a car dealer who parked his cars which where up for sale in front of our workshop brought this.

It's a '92 Lancer GLX-i. Allready a facelift model, which means it has the 113hp 4G92 under the hood and the bodykit all around (with special bumper). It looks in fantastic shape on the outside, but it didn't get serviced (first oil and filter change reduced the fuel consumsion by nealry 2l/100km) for a while and the suspension and brakes where rubish. Pritty soon I had a little crash with it, which I needed to repair cheap and fast. So half a year later it looked like this.

While sorting out the mechanical issues, I more and more liked the car and started to mod it. First to come was a Momo steering wheel and a leather shift knob, a K&N replacement filter and than I found these fantastic mesh rims.

Soon I realized that it realy needs a drop, so I installed some used lowering springs. Because it's a daily and because I just love to play with lights I first started to replace the interior light bulbs with LEDs, later added some footwell lights and a second trunk light and put some LEDs in the center console. Back up light, license plate lights and turn signals are LED as well.
Image

I wanted a 3rd brake light and what I found was a rear spoiler from a 4g Lancer with LED brake light. Fits pritty good and looks fantastic.

For daily use sake I installed a map light from a '00 Mistubishi Carisma, some windshield washer jets from a newer Volvo and some Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades.
Image
Image

Early this year the car needs to be inspected to get road legal for the next two years again. For that inspection I replaced all the rubbers at the front axle, replaced all 4 shocks with KYB Excel-G gas shocks and installed some new brake hoses (braided of course).
Image

During the past half year I finally found a GTi front bumper (I think you guys here called them JDM front bumper), installed some LED daytime running lights and some JDM corners.
Image
Image

My next plans are to replace the terribly mounted square fog lights with these combo and build some road legal HID head lights (regulations for that are pritty tuff here).

It's the most common bodystyle for the Lancer here. And to be honest, it's the only one I realy like to look at. At the front they look all the same, but on the back, I don't like the tail lights of the Colt and the sedan looks so clipped in both, the rear windshild and the trunk itself. The 5-door has nice floating lines from the roof backwards and due to his enormous boot lid it's perfect for daily use and carrying big stuff.
You can even use it for camping 8)

Such a cool car!! Keep up the good work. Find a fog light grill for it.

Looks great, it also looks weird to see a newer looking SOHC engine in one of these cars. The wheels look perfect on there too!

I'm not sure if I will ever find a Colt Supertop to part out, but I realy thought about putting a folding roof in it, to get rid of this stupid roof rust forever. :D But, yes, a Supertop would be the ultimate solution 8)

Not sure if these where even available for the Colt... And even for the Lancer they are pritty rare, because they where only installed on the cars that where sold between 1992 and 1994 here, which actually wheren't much, because the succsessor where allready on the market and most people bought the newer model instead of the upgraded former model.

I had some spare LED modules laying around, so I started another little project 8)

I currently have a LED replacement bulb installed in the stock housing. It's a 9W creed LED. I would say it's brighter than stock, but there is room for improvements - and this solution isn't road legal here.

I'm thinking about removing the stock back up light and rear fog light, fill the holes and install some smaller ones below the bumper, or maybe integrated in the bottom end of it.
