Got problem with Mirage. Yesterday I was riding by night normally, go back home etc. Today get into car, insert key into ignition, turn to position 1 - everything was ok, icons burn etc and when I want to turn to position 2 it's only "click" and car isn't start. Everything is on movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx_IORHGpC8

So I take off + clamp to reset ECU. Wait about 5 minutes, take on clamp and... car started like earlier.

Go to car wash, on car wash I don't switch off the engine, after washing I go to home, parked and switch off engine. After about 20 secs I want to do test and everyghing was like on movie again - engine didn't start.

What is the problem? ECU capacitors say "bye, bye"?

Anyone of You got the same problem?

Check the clutch button on the pedal assembly. Next I would bump start the car, if she runs good then you know it's not the ECU. You can also run a jumper wire from the starter solinoid to the battery and see if she starts that way, then you'll know it's a starter or ignition related issue. I cant tell if that click is the starter or the MPI relay though? It sounds like a MPI relay and I also don't see a check engine light on your dash, it should come on for a few seconds then turn off but I don't see any lights turning off which makes me suspect the ECU.

Is it the Relay, that Click???

Than Change as soon as possible the capacitors of the ecu, before the destroy more of the ecu.

Ufff, this was only clamps! Today clean clamps by knife and Mirage starts like earlier :)

1. Last night I was take off the + clamp from battery,
2. Today clean clamps, take on it and start engine normally,
3. After about 2 minutes stop the engine and try again to start it and... it do this!! :D
4. After about 2 minutes again stop the engine and try to start it and for 3rd time it started :)

So I have to change clamps and capacitors in ECU - for my calm :)

It wasn't clamps like I thought, it was starter, which I regenerated and now everything is ok :)

I can't find topic like "newbie questions" or "short questions - short answers" for new users on forum, but I have some questions about Mirage:

1. What boost level generate stock turbine in stock engine 4g61T?

2. From which other Mitsubishi (or Hyundai, Kia) car model suspension is similiar like in Mirage Turbo?

Got more questions but... I forgot them :/.

#FlyingEagle - I remember about You and VIN code from my Mirage, but still forget to take photos

4g61t, 11b turbo, stock boost 8psi. may make power up to 14psi. with basic mods.

What are you looking for in suspension? Tonus has a good write up on dsm suspension in the csms although you may not have dsms in your area :-?

I'm looking for front shock absorber cushions because my are cracked (rubber) and on road gaps it's very loud right now.

I heard about that european Colt GTi (C53A) and Colt C50 1.8D (C54A) got the same suspension like Mirage. Is it truth?

Yes, I'm sure both of those are the same but I am not 100%

It'll be fantastic information for me, because I'm working at automotive warehouse and got some parts for my Mirage but not in catalogue. In catalogue my Mirage isn't exist  , even Dodge Colt and Plymouth Colt. In USA I think Mirage Turbo is something normal in catalogues. Isn't it? :)

Colt 1.8D has the same axles like the Euro GTi model. I know that for sure.
You just look for C53A Mitsubishi Colt 1.6 GTi. That will fit you.

From my last update not much I did with Mirage. Still is stock and still give me much fun :). The car is great.

For about 1 month ago I've met son (Bartek) of second owner of my Mirage and this is his history from 1989:

1989 - bought by American,
1990 - bought by Bartek's father in New Jersey on auction,
1991 - Mirage comes to Poland,
1992 - Bartek's father death, turbo charger has been changed,
1992 - 1996 - Bartek's mother uses Mirage,
1996 - sold to Bartek's family friends,
2000 or 2001 - sold to some Hubert (friend of last owner before me),
2005 - sold to Wojtek (my friend),
2012 - sold to me :)

- about 1 month ago I do fully detailing with polishing of Mirage (pics under),
- about 3 months ago I boiled engine :/. Fan wasn't work good and when I stop in traffic engine boiled. After that I changed cooler (cracked) and fan. Cooler and fan are from Colt CA 1.6 SOHC (it' very similiar :)). Engine is good, got some luck I think because head gasket not let go cooler liquid to engine.

Some pics and movies from last update:

1. After fully detailing (we spend on polishing it about 27 hours in 2 days, but effect is cool!):

- cooler and fan from CA4A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLGzVbXxgeg

- acceleration to 100km/h: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe0n5ul5dE0

- mystek on road :P : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNhAILKv1dY
