I've been talking with a husband and wife out in North Dakota, at least a couple times over the phone and received photos by email of their HUGE farming operation. It's an opportunity for me....but it's also going to be a risk. We agreed that, they would give me enough work to cover the costs of going back home, if I decided to drive over and stay for a week or two just to see how I like it there. I'm selling the Dodge Colt hopefully to someone local, and sooner the better....even though it's gonna rip me. Trying to prepare for the chance of staying there for a while, so I've feverishly been tying up loose ends just in case. Put a lot of work into making the suspension uber-tight and safe on the Mirage....how odd it is that this car will be taking me there!

For anyone that cares to hear about it, they diversify in numerous crops ranging from wheat durum, barley, sunflower, canola, soy beans, corn, and etc. I'll be trained for running their combines eventually, but doing tractor work and hauling grain via semi-trailer to the big city or the farm. Think he said it was around 7,000 acres of farming land....all non-irrigated, and no cattle around the farm to tend! I've been working on an 800 acre wheel-line and pivot irrigated Alfalfa hay farm with close to 100 head of cattle for around 5 years, so the contrasts should be stark.

I don't know anyone out there except for my uncle whom networked me with these folks. It's probably gonna suck in that aspect. But look at this way....North Dakota never saw me coming; no matter what happens, I will throw a glitch into their matrix time continuum during my stay. I may not be active until I get established with a working internet and all, so I thought I'd let everyone in on the scoop. A man has got to risk it all sometimes in his life, and sometimes he repeats that process before he finds success. God bless the good people here!

Good luck on your venture! I am envious as I sometimes wish to up and start over elsewhere. I just can't make myself take the risk. Come back and let us know how you are doing. Good luck!

Good luck man! I myself need a change of location, but I can't find a state where the economy is doing well...

Okay....lots of last minute packing and reorganizing going on. I'm leaving on Sunday the 13th. Going from being the only c53a owner in Idaho to the same over in North Dakota....pooopy! I'll buy a different car when I get there, so I can stop putting miles on the Mirage and actually freaking upgrade her. In any case, I've done pretty much all I can to make it roadworthy for the trip. Just going to take it nice and easy all those 930 miles. There'll be a chance to jump online once I arrive, to let people know I made it....but I will most likely disappear for a month in the process.

Good health and happiness to all the good people here!
