Heya everyone! Wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and my purpose.

Unfortunatly I do not own a CSM... I know boo's ans hiss's. However I do need your all help. So with that I will try and input as well and help out the general community!

I have been a hot rodder, a builder, a painter, and most importantly a enthusiast. I believe a car should made for the most it can be, wether or not it's the best choice or the under dog. If you can keep the original equipment and have it perform really well, that's what I'm all about.

I am a mild avid collector and have the following cars under my belt and still own and operate.

1976 455HO Trans Am
1980 Turbo Trans Am
1992 Trans Am GTA 5th Anniv
1989 Silverado
1984 Maserati Biturbo
1994 Plymouth Laser R/T

My TTA is fully built and running more than 425 RWHP out the back @18psi from the turbo. This is way more substantial than the factory 210 @ 9psi. I pride in the fact even though it's not a super monster, but it is way more than anyone would of expected from that little motor. My Maserati is a factory 12 sec Twin Turbo, 5 speed, rwd, 2.5 V6.

I am seeking your help cause I am in the procces of turbo charging my 4G37 Laser. I am using all parts sourced out from a 4G32bT. I will be starting a thread looking for advice, parts, and availability on them. Thanks for taking a minute to read my story! :partyman:

Welcome to the forum! Nice collection of cars you've got there. Post up some pics of these things, especially the Maserati Bi-Turbo, I love those cars!

Thanks! I'll post up a link to some pics I have up on them.

As you see I believe in under dogs! That Maserati was one of the bigger ones... Once I dug into it, I was amazed of some of the engineering in a bad way lol. It's amazing how very few still exsist! They say once they have lived past 5 or so years they will last forever if maintained properly. Them Italians knew what they were doing with the motr, but not with emissions or electrical lol :o

Thanks for posting pics. I can't say I'm a big fan of your paint schemes, but to each their own.

The problem with the 301T LU8 was no patience or technology for them. The motors were built right, just took some food for thought to make them perform. I still have issues with mine and have not had a chance to 1/4 mile it. However with my build combo on it I should pull 13's very easily at 15psi. I still need gearing and a higher stahl convertor. I had a 3000 stahl and a 200r4 conversion. Then had something come up from the road and into the pan killing the trans and stahl... Had it all rebuilt and got a new stahl but now it only spins to about 1600... Not near enough to build good boost off the line. So with tax return selling that one and getting a bigger one. My mods on that include...
Ported polished heads
2;02 Intake Valves
1;98 Exhaust
Comp XE Cam forgot the grind haven't mentioned in years lol. I wanna say 262XE ???
Exhaust/intake mani's ported/ ceramic coated
Emissions removed
EGR removed/ blocked off
Coolant bypass
2 3/4 downpipe
ARP bolts all around
Compression lowered to 6.5;1
Ross Forged pistons
Butler Rods
Ceramic coated turbo
Ported polished Carb Plenum
3" cold air intake w/carb hat
Water Meth Injection
turbosmart dual stage controller
200r4 trans
4;11 rear gears

I have about 7 and a half invested in the motor. I love it, but it still gives me problems lol.

Forgot to also add... When testing mine for boost I had my waste gate actuator straight. When I tested it, I only was getting 5psi!!! I had to lean on it and pushed it way torwards the carb side to get the stock 9 psi out of it. That made way a differance. The cars also just varied way far from eachother cause of this. Most people that didn't have a good time with them is from the low boost. With the low compression natural on them they do need hi boost to come alive!

Did you sell the Pace Car? They are worth some cash now days!

I sold it like 6 years ago. It had 60k miles. It was repainted so it no longer had any decals. It was given to me and I had no interest in it. I wish I would have held onto it as the prices are pretty high on them.

The issue with the SOHC cars is they use injectors of a different impedance, 8bit ECU's and they have different pins for there maf. If you want to make any serious power(anything close to 200whp) your going to have to overcome those hurdles. Megasquirt might help though. Or you might be able to retrofit a dohc turbo electronics to your engine and use DSMLINK. I'd like to see how the bottom ends compare between the 4g6x and 4g3x engines.

I'm guessing that your car a sentimental value, either that or you want to be different/you want a challenge. In that case put an ls2/ls3 engine in it, you will be different, and you'll probably get a favorable power to weight ratio. cause lets face it your car is a boat compared to csm's, and it handles like a rock. I't going to take alot just to make your car even equvalent to a sportscar in the early 90's. Not trying to be a dick :) , cause I was obsessed with sohc 1.5 csm's for a while, I just hate to see people waste money/time when so many other cooler projects could be made. Either way welcome to the board, and please document your build as I am interested for curiosity's sake. :partyman:

BTW: I love the blue phoenix on the hood!

Lol Thanks! The blue bird was expensive and I had to lay it down myself alone! I am very good at laying vinyl so it was no task, just BIG! It really tied the interior and blue graphics all in. People told me to have it air brushed on, however I think that's too ghetto. However now in my older age of 28, I wish I would of done things differently. I learned 23 doesn't last forever :-? . If I ever have to do it again, I would get Black gloss rims, keep the paint colors but a simple Orange 2 tone w/ the blue birds...

As for the 1.8, I hate to disapoint everyone but it's not intended to be "Fast" by other peoples standards. It will be fast for what it is... Just not a 12 sec screamer. I have plenty of cars to enjoy that with  . However you are right by being different. I love my car, and unfortunate I had no idea about the 3 engine options available on these. I am looking into running a GM Maf translator to overcome the factory MAF as they are junk. And the Injectors I am going to use the factory blue tops. I have a buddy that knows how to put the resistor pack onto the 1.8 cars. I have researched many many forms of ECU's and fuel management and just haven't made a decision. Hell, I even thought about switching to a 4G32b induction system! This what kinda brought me to you guys... Finding info on the 4G32bT motor is almost impossible on any other forum. Pics alone are hard to find! I am only gonna shoot for around 5-7 lbs boost anyways.
Ironic story about me when I was younger and dumber lol.
I once pulled a turbo off a 87 or so Colt from our U-Pull. I was thinking of twin turbo charging the GTA  So I had it sit around for awhile... This was way before owning the Laser lol. Eventually I sold it to a kid that wanted to charge his corrola wagon lol. Years later I learn this was the turbo I needed.... Now seeking the mani/turbo I just spent $180 all together for what I paid $40 for years ago! Lesson learned....

Evo, trust me lol... I have wasted more money on dumber crap lol. Nothing is wasting money as long as you enjoy what your wasting it on  As for putting a LS series motor??? I'll leave that to the Fiero guys lol.
Thanks for the welcome and I'll start the turbo thread in the 1st/2nd gen thread.
