Gotta great deal i think, this guy said he was moving to venezuela, needed to get rid of it, i picked it up for $1100. the car honestly in great shape, had a bogging issue at first, when go on the gas(even just cruising) it would stutter. Figured out by talking to the previous owner he was running regular gas in it. I havent had a chance to do a full tune up yet, but just running a tank of 91 octane thru it, it runs great! Unfortunately there is a gas leak, not sure if its the tank or the seal around the sending unit, gonna drop it today to find out, and it needs an e-brake cable, but im gonna try to free it up before going to buy one. they are only like 35 bux, but thats 35 bux i could use for somethin else. Im planning on doing a 4g63t swap, i have what i need, but ive been thinking of keeping this car with the original motor. i loved my tsi when i had it, and i would love that power in the colt, but it is clean, i dont know if i wanna go swapping stuff out of it. Thx for the responses!! ![]() |

Ketchup capital of the world. Welcome and enjoy your time here. Lots of stuff to see in the archives too if you are curious. Good to hear you've had DSM experience because the CSM engine bay is so rediculously tight compared to any regular engine bay. Very hard to find a black car up here that isn't rusted out. The 1.6L can do a lot if needed and is just about on par with strength of the 1G as the rods are the same and the crank has the same treatment. Pistons are the weak point apparently, but unless you are pushing the limits of your bottom end, you won't have an issue with a good tune. Thank goodness you are getting good fuel into it now, as it's criminal to run 87 octane in these turbo motors, especially when they get hot. |

Great find! That engine bay is very clean, as it the rest of the car. Is the car completely stock? I say keep the 4g61t, throw a 14b, 450cc's, 1gmaf, 1g ecu and a 1g intercooler and possibly an upgraded fuel pump and start stocking tires ![]() |
