Hello all. For those of you who don't know me, I'm james and I live way up North in Alaska. I got my first Summit when I was 16 and it's all been downhill from there. After owning four four door Summits over 5 years, I just got out of the game when I was offered a direct trade for a 1990 Plymouth Laser RS. It's a five speed, 102,000 miles, and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Completely stock, and FWD of course. As much as I love CSMs, this is a refreshing (and faster) change of pace. I've been buying many parts from many members on here, and the car should be where I want it soon enough. This car, along with my 94 Trans Am and 70 VW Bus completes my flock of vehicles.

Installed (jean jacket was included with car haha)

elbow brass fitting that needed to be modified to fit in my block, was a pain. But now I have two oil pressure sending units haha. Stock fitting was british pipe thread, the aftermarket unit was metric.

That's all for now. Hopefully getting an exhaust, repaint and new wheels come summer time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the Laser's the quickest of the dsm trio (laser/eclipse/talon) because they were the lightest. Or were they down on power compared to the eclipse/talon? They were rated at 190hp and the eclipse/talon was 210hp if I remember correctly.

1st gen's were 195hp with m/t and 180hp with auto, 2nd gen's were 210hp with m/t and 205hp with auto. If my memory serves me correctly. :D

All 90-94 DSM's made the same amount of power regardless of model. FWD's were rated at 190hp and AWD's were rated at 195hp, but many people argue that that was a marketing tactic more than anything. The Laser was dropped after '94 and never made it to the 2g body style. The Lasers also weren't much lighter, if at all lighter.

I'm pretty sure all 2g's made 210hp, auto and stick.

I guess it depends on what magazine or article you read the stats from I guess.

I've never read a magazine article that had conflicting numbers in it. I've read a majority of the old issues that had DSM's in them too. The only thing the Lasers didn't have were some of the body effects parts like moldings and spoilers, which don't weigh very much. You could get any flavor DSM without the luxury options like cruise and power windows/doors. I've never seen a DSM without A/C from the factory.

Oh, I wanted to add that I thought all Lasers were FWD. But I have found a few in the last couple years that were AWD. I had a base model Laser a couple years ago....it was my first mitsubishi car! Anyways it felt pretty light compared to my Mirage. I think a high powered FWD Laser would be killer fun on the road though!

I heard a rumor that some Auto dsms had a 13g turbocharger?
