Maybe it was an option from the factory, and didn't it also come on 4-door 89-92 Mirages?
I've always see the chrome ones on almost every base model 1.5 mirage, I still don't see why its so sought after.

I found one in a junk yard :) The car wasn't AWD either... They are out there in the states... somewhere.
