I was trying to get the swap done for a dyno day this weekend....but there's no friggin way! Too much crap goin on with school to have free time to work on this. That and I dunno wtf happened to my motivation.

On a positive note, the wife's Mazdaspeed3 will be getting intake, catback, and rims this week....and it'll be getting dyno'd instead!

The VIN plate is not from an RS, the RS is an E38A.

Replaced the valvecover gasket...and look what I found:

CLEAN!!!

Cleaned, and all buttoned up with the new gasket:

Either this thing has a new head, or this was one well maintained, low mileage engine.

Far right of the specs, it says E39A:

Plus, 16G, 510cc, and huge OEM FMIC all spells RS.

Maybe the E39A meant 4WS or something. Also, I see that the '92 EVO 0 RS is a E38A, here:

It shows in the upper right hand corner that the E39a has 4WS, while the E38a does not.

LMAO! Fresh stripper glitter and all! Man, that drive back to GA was HELL! The car was perfect, but with no A/C, having the windows down was like standing in front of a hair dryer on hi! I drank like 2 gallons of gatorade on that trip!

And in regards to that awesome 4-tone style....one day my wife was like "I feel embarrassed to go places in this car." It wasn't long after that that I flat blacked it!

Hey man, help me out here. What's a vicious coupler's purpose on a trans, and what is the purpose of eliminating it? I obviously don't know much about working on transmissions.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's pretty much what determines the torque split between the front and rear on an AWD car. So eliminating it, and replacing it with the eliminator locks the front and rear together. So if you used that in a AWD car, it would have permanent 4WD. In my case, since I removed the transfer case, I now have a FWD transmission.

GRV4 RS FMIC, with trimmed G20 bumper (neither are bolted down, they're just ziptied up for fitment purposes)

Finally got to do some significant work to the car:

Got the 4G63 all buttoned up, and dropped that mofo in!

I spent a lot of time on the motor, did all the maintenance stuff on it, so I'm hoping it will be pretty reliable. If I can get the A/C working, I'm seriously considering using the car as my daily. I think all it will need is a recharge, as the compressor seems fine, and the system definitely holds pressure.

So anyway, I still have plenty of work to do, but the most significant thing I have to do is to use the 3 sets of intercooler piping I have to find a setup that will work. It's like a big jigsaw puzzle, with a sawzall.

What were the part numbers for the prothane mounts you used? I just destroyed my rear mount and killed an axle. >_<

Those lower ones were both 13-506BL. IIRC, I had to cut the metal sleeve out of one mount, but not out of the other. You'll be able to tell after you burn the OEM rubber out of the mounts.

Also, after doing a test fitting, it looks like the GVR4 cold pipe setup should work with only minor modification. I haven't checked the hot pipe setup yet, but it probably won't be too bad.
