Man, I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to me when I was taking off my gauge surround. It's the exact same piece in the exact same place. Wierd. I mean, I know those break ALOT but it's just wild that the same exact piece would break.

so my 2000GTX got towed from where i was storing it :(

the rust was pretty bad on the rear portions of the rocker panels, and with the impending purchases of more projects(i'm a car slut, i can't help it), i figured, that it wasn't worth trying to fix the body. so i finally caved and told my girlfriend that if she paid to get it out of hock, she could use it for parts to swap the DOHC motor and transmission into her Vista wagon.

i'll get her to sign up and post some pictures when we start the swap :p

but! that left all sorts of bits and pieces that don't need to be on the GTX anymore. so i figure a few of them will find their way onto the Summit.

like the seats. which went into the car today. unhappily i might add. some cutting was required, and after they were in, i realized that they sit over an inch higher than the Summit seats :S

i'll take some pictures tomorrow of the install, i figure i'll keep them in there(they're more comfortable than the stock seats) until i pick up a pair of Kirkey racing buckets

ok, so it's been a few days(i'm lazy), but i finally got around to putting the pictures on my computer.

here's the seats installed
Image

this is the galant bracket from the inside edge of the seats, the rear mount. had to swap it with the one from the original seat(second picture, installed with bracket)
Image
Image

after that, everything on the inside edge lined up perfectly. the outside edge though, was another story. after much thought, and a few minutes with a jigsaw, they installed just fine :p
Image
Image

but the fact that the mounting bolts sat so close to the edge, made me a little nervous about safety and such. so a quick trip to Partsource, and 1.50$ later, i was less worried.
Image
Image

they still aren't "safe" per say, but they're safer.

the seats sit just over an inch higher, and when i installed them, i wasn't too pleased with that. but after driving with them in there for almost a week now, i'm starting to like it.

i also went down to the custom metal place that's making my rear sway bar. the bar looks perfect, though larger than i wanted. i asked him to bend up some 3/4" pipe for it, but forgot to mention inside or outside diameter. so i'll be riding with a 1" OD, 3/4" ID rear sway bar.

poor car'll be a little tail happy like that, but as long as it doesn't roll like a yacht in the corners with it on there, i'll be happy.

Looks good.

FYI I have a spare set of Turbo mirage seats that could use a bit of TLC They offer lots of support unlike the base model units. It was keeping them I was going to sew them up and throw the covers in the washing machine but never got to it (I already have 1 mint set anyways) Your local enough if you want them $60 their yours.

I just met Devolution and his girlfriend last week, it's a shame I hadn't known about this one the way down to Sarnia, and had time to work in a seeing Paul on the way back, because Chris could have used the seats, and Paul has your brake Tim ! 8)
Those seat covers really come out looking good after 15 years of leg and hand grease it pulled back out from them.

You can see the gap between the fender and the wheel there.

just took it for a spin around town. difference was unreal. can't wait to see what it's like with the rears done too, because it already handles 10x better(to me at least :p)

suspension complete! for the most part at least...still need to install the new sway bars, but that'll be it for suspension after that.

Image
Image

i'm VERY happy with how it turned out. i absolutely love the stance of the car now.

and it handles like a dream now, nice and steady through the corners.

turns out that the struts and shocks were all blown, and i had a broken half coil on the rear driver's side. so it's probably a good thing i replaced all the suspension :p

going to see about doing the front sway bar tomorrow, and at least go bug the guys making the rear bar, see if they have it finished yet.

i'll take some pictures tomorrow, something with less shadows, heh.
