Anyone have a set of these they will sell? I've been looking everywhere with no luck and the dealer is trying to rape me :butthead: . My cell is 440-476-86three5 if that's easier to communicate. Thanks, Chris

The Hyundai valve covers have larger holes and require the special "shoulder bolts" or it will most likely leak.

Hmm I run my Hyundai valve cover with dsm bolts no problem. Maybe some Hyundai covers are different?

There are two types of hyundai cover. One is identical to the 4G63, the other is smooth-topped. The smooth one has shoulder bolts.

I pieced together a set from the junkyard, although it's not perfect. The 2001+ Hyundai 2.4s use shoulder bolts too, as do all the subaru flat 2.5's. Washers are required, but it works in a pinch.

Yes some are different on the one I had I only needed longer bolts as far as it leaking it shouldnt the valve cover gasket goes around all the holes.

Mine actually says Hyundai on it, so that must be the difference indeed.

Sorry it is the smooth topped valve cover. Are the shoulder bolts in the 01+ 2.4s the same length as the ones originally used for this valve cover or are those the ones that you mentioned needing the additional washers? Wasn't sure if you were referring to just the Suby ones or both.

Also it seems there's some discrepancy about whether the inner 6 bolts require different size bolts as well or if the dsm ones work fine? Any input on that? The second post in the link I posted above says the dsm ones work fine but I've also read people saying they require shoulder bolts as well.

Every one of the smooth, black Hyundai VC's I've ever seen used shoulder bolts in all of the holes. The ones in the middle were shorter but still shoulder bolts. In other words all of the holes are larger than they are on the dsm VC's.

I'd like to know about the newer sonata 2.4's too, there are a few of those in the local yards and I'm always getting requests for Hyundai VC bolts for the older style VC.

Heres a pic. of mine off a hyundai the bolts in the center are the same as the mitshu valve cover the outside ones are longer you do not need the j bolts just longer bolts and a washer yes the holes are wider but the gasket will take care of any oil leaks.

I recall using a few extra washers on most of the holes, with the most being on the plug valley. The 2.4s use the same length bolt for every hole, unfortunately. I didn't have a proper shoulder bolt to compare the 2.4 stuff to, so I can't really say how close they are :(.
