Have you tried a bone yard yet? The 4g61 came in Hyundais, Summits and of course Colts. I looked through ebay for piston sets that work with the various different vehicles that engine came in but foudn none. Just for refference you need a piston with 3.2390 - 3.2402in outer diameter; the FSM does not list the wrist pin diameter. Good luck.

The na pistons are not the same. Hyundai ones may work but they are not the same for sure.

The FSM lists slightly different bore sizes for the turbo pistons. I can't remember what the difference in size was but you may be able to hone the cylinder and remove enough material to use the NA pistons. I wasn't 100% sure if you needed turbo or NA as in the original post you simply stated "4g61".

I recently rebuilt a d15b7(Honda) for a buddy and re-used the factory pistons. We soaked them in cheap Autozone parts cleaner(which is just slightly modified diesel fuel) and cleaned them with a soft wire brush and a broken piston ring to clean out the ring grooves. They cleaned very nicely and will work better than the "Evergreen" replacement pistons that came with his rebuild kit. I know you said two of your pistons died when the HG blew but at least if you find two dirty OE's you can clean them.

Maybe you can call RRE and ask Welch if he has or knows of any stock pistons you could purchase. Other performance shops might be able to do the same but RRE is the first that comes to mind as Mike loves his Mirages...

RRE's PN: (562) 777-1522

yea its a factory mirage turbo. I was just looking for 2 replacements pistons from maybe someone that went to a 63 or spun a bearing or something. Im not gonna try and use NA pistons because the whole point of me using the original pistons is so I dont have to pull the motor.

You can rebuild the engine and leave it in the car. But you'll have to pull the tranny and totally disassemble the engine. What exactly happened to the two pistons when the HG blew?
