Little too far from me to get, looks to be in pretty good shape other than dirty. Someone buy it for the registry.

Yes, Mirage VIN can be decoded rather readily with the ASA program. 8)

I wonder if any wreckers document the vins in private files/databases,berfore turning them intocrushed cubes
Or do they just smash them without a care.

I've always wondered why some people say that about VIN's. I can walk by your car in a parking lot and copy it off the dash. You could do the same for my cars.

I was looking for a VIN for a 94 Galant GS one time and asked on the galant center and a lot of people went crazy asking why I needed it. Then I went to autotrader and happened to find one for sale and it was listed so I just used that one to find parts on CAPS.

What am I missing? What can someone do with your VIN?

I agree i've always thought About when your car is just parked.the vin is visible.

Well apparently they could use your vin to go get some keys made for it at the dealership
Without presenting id or paper work.
better safe than sorry.
Plus what if they add it to the vin registery without your knowing?
:D

Dealers require more than a VIN#, a registration in your name is also required. Especially if the car is older and the VIN# may not give them a key code if the ignition had been replaced at some time.
