Being how cramped these are in front of the motor i doubt it. Ive yet to have a car that had AC to be spoiled by it. I think the condenser will be coming out to help with radiator cooling being the intercooler i have for it is huge.

Same here, still kicking myself for not picking up that super clean one that was on ebay a few years back. Think somebody said Trevtec or one of his buddies got it.

If you decide to ditch the a/c, I would love to buy it from you.

I remember that car. Absolutely immaculate condition white '92 GS that had under 100k and looked to be old-lady owned. I think it sold for under $2k as well right? It was the nicer twin to my old car.

There is a 99.9% chance it will be ditched. Ill let you know when the 1.6 comes out as that is when it will be getting pulled out.

i while back 89mirageman was awesome enough to source me some expo wagon knuckles and ship them to me. Gonna do a GVR4 front brake swap on the front at the same time. Just gotta press out the bearings and beadblast them and put some paint on them.

The motor i pulled out was hurt but still ran. Compression test yeilded 150-150-100-150.

Here are some pics of the beginning of the teardown.
The headbolts were looser on the outer ones then the center. Doesnt surprise me because i know i lifted the head a few times so the bolts were a tad stretched. Pretty stoked that i got all the exhaust manifold nuts off without any studs breaking. Usually you always have a few. Pistons show a little bit of ash which is from coolant which is to be expected when you have lifted the head.

I still need to pull the camshafts out so i can see how bad the valves are. Im sure Cyl #2 will be a gusher. I also need to pull the oil pan off and check the main bearings and rod bearings to see if i can still use the block and just have the head redone.

Got the timing components removed. Took the camshafts, rockers, and lifters out of the cylinder head.

As you can see the main bearings look great which is no surprise. So lets look at the crank mains.

Man is it hard to get pictures of shiny surfaces that have oil on them! lol So here are the crank mains.

Lets take a look at the rod bearings. Before looking at the rod bearings i knew it was a 80% chance that i would be replacing the rod bearings. After pulling Cylinder 1 it became 100% chance. None of them are spun or detrimental. Lets dive in.

Cylinder 1: The rod bearing half on the left is the top in both pics. You can see its taken a little more abuse then the other half. The bearings are wore. They arent bad though this was a running motor. There is no wear through marks. Now do you see the black spotting. That right there is a result of running Ethanol. Ethanol is acidic in oil and causes that. This isnt a huge issue as the bearings are somewhat ok. But the black is actually pitting caused from the acidic Ethanol being in the oil. No problem. I know how to address this. Under the bearing pics will be the rod journals for that bearing/cylinder.

So at this point i have the motor tore down completely with the crank still in the block. Its just about ready to head to the machine shop. So far the plans are to have them polish the bearing journals on the crank. Then ill be having them deck and do a valvejob on the head. As you may have seen there are balls in the rod journals of the crank. Those are cleanout traps. Those have to be removed as well. Most people tap them, put a setscrew in and use a punch to distort the screw so it doesnt back out. Its a conversation im going to have to talk to the machinist about. Im going to do the oil passage mods as well as the teardrop in the head before i drop it off.
