i just scored a intercooler anybody guess what its from? i thought it was worthy of posting a pic, man this thing looks better without the bumper. 28 lb bumper i might add. i do NOT want to putvit back on, looks way too good now, not sleeper enough
also relocated the maf behind the headlight now. ill remove the pass headlight and bumpers for track

Man that does look cool. What would be really sweet is to box in where the bumper was with some sheet metal. Like a rollpan for the front. Just fill and flush it out right where the indent in the fender is for the old bumper

this is my best of two runs, first run, before i went to the track and laid down 15.2 @ 95.44
no intercooler, 10 psi.

Image

this is 15 psi and fmic
it just barely hooks in third now.
and its still ballpark 500-1000 bucks
i havent been keeping track really like all the random hoses and crap like that really add up. head gasket, seals, t belt, etc but its a free engine, free trans, clutch, car was 200 bucks.
now i just need to wrangle a set of slicks for nothing.( yeah not likely)
it should EASILY run in the 12s and 110 traps.(slicks). without slicks ill be lucky to hit a high 14
still completely stock maf, injectors, tune, fully on welfare build here
i put in a new head gasket,

i know theres more power just by turning up the boost, but whats the point.
i know the 14b stock everything combo has a fair bit more in it before fuel cut, i still have n/a cams as well.

tiburon wheels junkyard $100 w tires of course
15x 6 or maybe 6.5. not sure
the 205 series tires are a bit wide, but should be fine for 8" slicks.
i was hoping i would have a slight bit more grip with these much wider tires, NOPE. i think i am getting none of the benefit of wider tire because of my front suspension camber.
it has negative camber to start, so itust be really bad when the front end lifts accelerating.
limiting straps are going to make a big difference i think

limiting straps made it worse, uncontrollable under full throttle, pulled hard to the right and spun worse than before
awd swap coming soon
gonna strip my awd colt, focus on this one

this car is so hilarious at the track!!!
14.7@103.4 spun the whole 1/8
im not going to bother with slicks
awd will make this thing legendary, so im starting the swap soon!

Slicks on a properly prepped track will net this thing in the sub 1.8s in the 60'.

i want 1.6 60 on street tires
the best i ever did was 1.79ish iirc. just know i did a couple high 1.7 in my 1990, it was 2750-2800 lbs with me and always had crap tires. it had rear lsd

this car will be 2200-2300 with me, i would think the light weight should help a great deal! and i will have
rear spool
welded center diff
front lsd
i just want epic lauches, cause look at this thing! so pathetic!!! and im planning on still running the pizza cutter winter tires

it looks like its going to be easy. the old rear just unbolted without a single broken bolt!!!

ill install a bar across with mounts already installed, exactly what i did in the last car, itll work well with the same link bars
the lower links i will shorten and make a bolt on bracket that will utilize the mount point for the factory trailing arms, will be perfect!!
wont be hard at all!!

the only "difficult" part is the old colt doesnt use struts like the newer cars, the spring and shock are independent. i will just cut the spring perch off the stock stuff and weld it to my axle. ill have to cut at least 3" off the stock spring. obviously my options for springs will be nil

i could cut and install strut towers in here but that seems like too much work
if i did that i could retain the lower mounts and use evo or dsm struts

judging by the weight of the rear i took out, (60 lbs) i can guess the final weight in the 2000lb even range. probably around 2050 but then i can always do a bunch of little hacks to get close to 2000
thats the main goal

Holy sheeeeit. What rear-end are you using? This thing is going to be the ultimate death trap

Post subject:  Re: 1980 4g63t swap -now awd too

it is the same rear that was in my 93
its a toyota 6.7" rear with 3.9 ratio. its open but i do have a spool i could put in it, lsd are hard to come by for this diff

the advantage of using this diff over ford 8.8 is just weight. its a lot lighter and still plenty strong for under 400 hp

ultimate deathtap?
i like it, sounds manly

ive just been calling it the ultimate sleeper.

rear end is installed! driving it a bit like this, works good.
installing that live axle wasnt too bad! maybe 12 hrs or so.
i think the hard part of the awd swap
will be sorting out the axle lengths
