But I can relate, I've had to do it myself before.

Get it running and worthy of a road trip or towing. From there you can sell off what you don't need.

19 and can weld a solid bead? You are light years ahead of where I was at that age.

Took me a long time to get up the nerve to even consider owning a vehicle with a turbocharger.

However I did learn to drive automatic on an LSVW (Canadian Military SMP) that had a turbo diesel. I knew turbos could get expensive.

Hope it all works out, because you are putting a lot of work into a worthy shell and a car with some heritage.

I grew up around dsm and evos. My dad has always had one or the other
First dsm i remember him having was a super clean 1g that ran low 11s (back in the early 2000s)
then he sold that and bought an evo 8 when they came out.. he broke a few records
And everything on the car was buschur.. so he ended up getting sponsored..
Traded that beautiful white evo for buschurs evo 8 the "magnum" it was there red wide body time attack car
hes had a couple dsm/evos sense but the last couple years he has stayed clear of them..

I have high ambition.. lol and am pretty good at picking things up
I surprised my self with the welding tho... no school or classes.. no one to help me..
Just read online about techniques and tried it out..
As long as the metals clean i can throw down a pretty dang good weld

Well said. When I was 18 or 19 my brother and I were draining the transmission fluid out of my wife's 93 Corolla because we thought it was the oil plug  . True story, and I still look back and laugh.

For you to have this kind of knowledge at your age you really need to stick with building cars. No way in hell I could have tackled anything close to what you're doing. I can barely do it now at 37.

Really wish you could stick it out with this project and find a way to finish it. Good luck with whatever you decide though.

I love working on cars and would eventually one day like to work for a performance shop... no way would I be willing to change brakes and do oil changes at walmart :P
But at the same time i'm very good with computers and that's what i originally planned to go to school for.. but really hate taking the useless general classes..

So at this point I'm trying to decide what todo with my life.
