4 speed knob

90 shift knob if I wanted a longer throw.

All installed and shifter better than any 3g or 4g shifter I have used.

I did the same thing to my 4g coupe and it made a huge difference as well. Awesome job!

I bought a Colt once years ago that had a 4 speed knob on it. Was pretty surprised when I found 5th gear.

Got some stuff done to the car today, I noticed a small oil leak from the trans and that was the heart of my motivation.

Pulling the 4g15 injectors to put 4g37 injectors in.
Image

I cleaned and checked and believe the culprit is the d side trans axle seal that was leaking so I changed it
Image

Would you put this back in your transmission? (Seriously have less than 200mi on this oil) I put new in when I installed it and have added some but dont drive it because I legally cant right now.. I did put it back in but can always drain it again and I need a bit more oil I think anyways (more oil did come out than this)
Image

I was also going to install the 4g37 maf so I would be on all 4g37 components but the car was running well after it got fuel pressure built up again so I left the 4g15 maf in for now. Also my CEL went out but I did disconnect the - cable before I started on the injectors, but hasnt come back yet :) ill drive it around the neighborhood tomorrow for the ECUs sake and then do my front 4g brake line conversion (banjo bolts soakin in CLR now) and got my brake lines from yours truly rockauto.

As long as you drained the oil in something clean I don't see what it would hurt.

Okay cool, I really want this transmission to last, im going to take good care of the precious. I will try to find what I did with my ghetto seal driver I wanted to take a pic. It was a metal water bottle on a broom stick basically and a hammer it worked well for the last few cm. And save me a few bucks

Still havent driven it around at all, and will put some lucas fuel stuff in to try and clear the injectors best I can.

4g front brake lines soon (need a damn line wrench thats metric) I may just dremel a cheap combo wrench

I always use large visegrips, I know its not the correct tool but it always loosens them up for me.

Alright I may just cheap out with a vise, I mucked up the passenger one a lil when I was working on the front spindles before, bc I tried a combo wrench. I sprayed them yesterday with pb blaster and will do some more today.

Weather has been good, money has been okay, and the car needs some love. I still noticed a small oil leak which was really bothering me, one from the pass side trans axle and oil pan. I changed them both no pictures but as far as I can tell no more oil leaks.

While able to remove all but one bolt off my exhaust mani fold I am hesatent to cut it. It seems thats what its come too, ill try to cut the nut off the stud, but what is the size of that little nut? Will the exhaust seal okay with 5 out of 6.

While accepting temporary defeat, I had to scratch the maintenance bug that bit me. I have a few more parts on the way. Im trying to hold off doing the lower ball joints and tie rod ends until I replace the front wheel bearings and seals. Still havent done the 3g brake like to 4g conversion tomorrow may be a good day for that. The major things Sunchaser needs is suspension all around, 4 new tires and possibly rear brakes.

I did end up upgrading the ground cables though, the stock terminal didnt fit well and cable was old so I changed the out. I am also working towards doing the big 3 on my car which is thicker wire ran

Battery positive (+) to alternator - From the positive terminal on your battery to the alternator positive (+) post
Engine block to chassis ground - From engine block to bare chassis metal. This is to complete the circuit of the alternator itself, allowing for a stronger ground.
Battery ground (-) to chassis ground - From the negative terminal on your battery to your car's chassis

Yesterday I also wrapped up the rear end swap, the lugs needed trimming for the rims to sit flush to the spacers. Much better now

driver side rear is flat so makes for a bad pic. BAM

Today was a good day, I replaced my exhaust manifold with a lightly used one from the best used parts guy for dsm/csms. (89mirageman)

resolved the problem of the stuck nut by pounding a 10mm onto it
Image

Out with the old crusty cracked and flaking mani and gaskets
Image

Used exhaust mani, new exhaust mani gasket, new nuts n washers to head, new O2 sensor, new nuts to exhaust pipe, and new gasket between exhaust mani and pipe
Image

95% installed, I dipped the heat shield bolt threads in oil so they wont seize or rust too fast I may replace these bolts too or just the big 4
Image

Just got the 3 bolts on the bottom left to install but waiting on nuts in mail, heres another pic of my dirty engine bay

You're moving right along on this project. Glad that exhaust manifold was good, looks like your old one had seen better days for sure.
