Post subject:  My 94 Mirage es coupe
after 6 months I finally picked it up.. nearly gave up on getting it and was looking for a expo.. but couldnt find one I wanted. (real picky on what I wanted)...

its 1.5 auto car but no motor or trans.. its getting a 61t and the expo awd auto out of my colt (welded center diff to run FWD).. seats are all missing. and rear deck piece is missing. car has a salvage title but not sure why (car was original red..now its white).. has 1 softball size dent right behind D/S door.. and some runst on roof.. rest of body is excellent..will be a nice daily since I have been car less since first week in April this year...will post pics as it gets built/upgraded.. here are the first pics when I brought it home today before I washed it.

hope you like it... btw it was free.. he wanted 100 for it but since I help him work on his racecar he gave it to me.cant beat that.
gonna grab some white spray paint for the rear bumper and under the hood and hope it matches lol.cant stand the red.

Day2:.. pulled hood.. replaced rack n pinion bellows..tie rod ends..fuel filter..cleaned and undercoated both sides in the front..(will do rears later sometime)..

next few days if its not windy ill scuff..primer and paint the engine bay black.. then drop the motor/trans in.. need to source a elantra cross member or make custom mounts for front and back of motor..

found out today they dont make 13" tires anymore and I had planned on upgrading rims anyways..was looking at these.. they are 15x7 10 offset.. so not sure if they will fit or not.. i list like how they look in this pic with these tires..

Yeah you can beat that price if they delivery it to your place as well, just jk hehe

Pretty nice coupe, good find and FREE huh, are you painting the engine bay white as well?

thanks guys and I did use his car trailer to get it home lol.. engine bay will be black..anything to get rid of the ugly red lol.

Looks good so far. I'm actually putting seats in mine from an 01 civic. I found a mint pair in the yard and my old ones were trashed. Can't wait to see more progress on it.

Day 3 didnt take any pics.. just unbolted everything in the engine bay.. tomorrow (weather permitting) i will get it scuffed up, primer-ed and painted. will get some pics as I do it if I can remember.

Day 4 was too windy to do any painting since I have a dirt yard.. so worked on the motor and put it in to mock it up..glad I did before I painted.. would of scratched the hell out of it lol.. I tried to use the 2g mounts but for some reason theres a bump on my head that is stopping it from mounting flush and no way to grind it down (its on a solid part of the mount) so I just used the elantra ones I had for the colt. seems to sit pretty good.. need to jack it up tomorrow and crawl under and check clearances by the trans as it looks real close there. also need to get some 4x114 hubs all the way around..as these dont let the dsm axle slide in all the way to bolt up the strut...also tomorrow i need to put the cross member back in and see what I can do to make some mounts for the front and rear. but so far its comming along pretty good. just need so much lil stuff..and almost out of money again lol...

Here is the clearance by the trans.. I think I need to bang it up or cut it out like on the colt.

Search for that thread made by Coltsfan, he has the part # for a Hyundai seal that allows the dsm axle to slide into the knuckle further. Should work with the 4x100 stuff too.

Day 5.. spent 5 hours searching..sitting looking at the car.. and laying under it trying to figure out how to build a new cross member..(stock one wont fit cause I have a AWD auto trans)

hopefully the rest of this week will be more productive. I did actually finally check out the inside of the car lol.. good news is the car only has 126k on it.. dash is good..door cards are good. (forgot to look at headliner but would of noticed if it was drooping)...

bad news is the rest of the interior is shot.. no pass seat.. driver seat is shot.. no back to the back seat..and bottom is tore. carpet is shot as well.. so once I get it running I can start sourcing parts to make it pretty lol.. will try to remember to take pics of int tomorrow..

What did you to the the frame rail where the trans hits?

My sedan has the same problem, it was like that when it was FWD too. I hate the sound of the tranny hitting the body.

I havent done anything yet.. ( on my colt I tried to beat it with a 5lbs sledge hammer and it didnt want to budge so I cut it out with a grinder).. on this car I am gonna cut slits in it about 1/2' apart so it will bend.. I will smash it flat to get the clearance.. then weld it all up.

so I got the cross member/rollstop mounts built today. just a temp one till I make the awd one next year.. ill take pics of it this weekend when I pull it back out to clean and paint it..

motor is in.. rad and I/C are mocked up.. will make brackets and bolt them up tomorrow.. also will install the wire harness tomorrow to.
