This car basically fell into my lap a few days ago. It belonged to my brother-in-law and he needed some money and had this as a spare car. I wasn't really in the market for a 4g so I kindly offered him $500 for it knowing he could get more and would turn me down. Well he did but then called me the very next day wanting to know when I could come and pick it up. Said he didn't want to deal with trying to sell it on craigslist and was willing to take less for a quick sale. I actually worked on this car for him about a year or so ago when the timing belt slipped and took out some valves so the head has been reworked and all new timing stuff. Since I've had it I just changed the oil and gear oil in the trans. I actually kinda like the color and will probably repaint it eventually. Also it only has 146k on it, 1.5L, manual transmission.

Next up is the new family hauler. It's a 2011 Outlander Sport SE. It's loaded with a huge glass roof, push button start, heated black leather, blue LED interior lights, HID's and a ton of other options. We love it so far, one owner truck in perfect shape with only 18k on it. So far I've added some Mitsubishi OEM rain guards and a Curt trailer hitch for trips to Lowes.

It's something I've done since I've been driving. Even more since I started working on my own stuff. I pick cars up cheap, fix them up a little, try to turn a profit and move onto something else. I always sell one before moving onto another so most of the time the same money is just rolled over. If I were rich I probably wouldn't be buying older $500 Mitsubishis

Clean it up, eventually repaint it and drive the snot out of it. I do have a 4g64 from a 3g eclipse with a dohc Hyundai/kia head on it that I was putting together for a 5th gen mirage coupe. It's flipped 180 degrees though. I'm sure I could fab up some mounts to make it work in this 4th gen csm. After driving that 04 lancer ralliart for a while I realize how much better the 2000+ mitsu manual transmissions shift than the 1g/2g stuff I'm used to. It would be neat to put a nice big na 2.4 in, maybe around 170 or so hp.

Here are a few pics of the Hyundai/Kia head. Nothing fancy, just took it to the local machine shop and had them freshen it up. The valve cover was painted with House of Kolor purple paint that my buddy had left over from a motorcycle job and cleared. The intake was cleaned up and I painted it with the same VHT wrinkle paint that I used on my last engine. I should be able to mate this to a 3g eclipse trans and drop it in. It will be a while for sure though.

I pressure washed the engine bay and bought some 15" wheels and 205/50 tires. I also lowered it but I'm not happy with the front. It dropped it a little too low for my liking so I grabbed an extra pair of upper spring perches from the junkyard. Just need to modify them a little. I'd like to get the front about 1/2" higher to make it level or close to the rear.
