Well, I had 10min to work on the colt this past weekend. It took 2min to get the new ir w7150 impact out of the case and only 3 seconds to get the crank bolt out. lol I am in love with this new tool. I cant wait to hit up the junk yard in the next couple of weeks and put it to the test with some rust. The impact is scary how fast it can pull lug nuts off meaning the rotational speed is quite impressive. This weekend we put my buddies car on the ground. It is a pre july 90 Tsi awd. We have done a 91 engine bay harness with a 92 complete full harness. It was stripped down to a shell to have a v8 dropped in by the previous owner. My buddy bought it thinking he could bring it back to life. He sat on the car for years not knowing how he was going to ever put it together. I have spent most of my weekends working on it sense Sept. I bought and built the motor/assembled, rebuilt the turbo, all new bushings, and we have ran down more parts that I thought it would ever need for his car. My collection of dsm parts went from I need to open an online business to sell stuff down to I can manage what I have. We have build a very nice talon and didn't skimp anywhere. He ran shake down this past week without me and found a few leaks like all the rest of us have. Now that his car should be complete I might have more time for the colt. Anyway, this next weekend I am going home to see my family or getting the timing and motor mounted again, which would mean I can fab up the rest of everything. I have not made any progress cause like I said I work contract away from home, so I only have the weekends to work at the shop. :o

Anyone have a 2g intake? I am looking for a metal one obviously. I have on the way a 609 maf and 580cc injectors. I figured it would help in the tuning with the Apexi safc. I been on the prowl for some cams also. I figure why not lol.

The FP 4" cast intake pipes are pretty much the best on the market if you ask me.

Anyone ran a Alternator relocate? What kit did you use and did you like it? I want one that is better than the current alternator bracket and pivot. I hate squeeling belts.
Thanks

I run the Jay Racing relocation kit. I love it and I hate it at the same time. If you specify the steel bracket instead of the aluminum one that it normally comes with, you'll be in much better shape, because the aluminum one loves to crack. You have to ask yourself what you hate more: A squealing belt, or having to take off your intake manifold to replace the alternator?

I have the Jay Racing on my Talon (now my son's talon). I was able to install both the JR kit AND the alternator without removing the IM. Took a few tricky twist and turns, but it went in there.

If you plan on using an aftermarket rebuilt unit, this is the only way you can go and get decent life out of them.

Thomcasey this post was cause by our conversation last week, I believe it was. I also realize with the alternator out of the way it cleans everying up in front of the engine. I have a manual rack in the car so no power steering. It will be all turbo, o2 housing, tial mvs, intercooler piping, intercooler, and radiator. You know cleaned up lol

Well, I have not been able to touch the colt in weeks. which is super frustrating.
I did do a timing job on my 99 GSX. Anyone, installed the balance shaft belt and with the tensioner just put on at the loosest position which made the balance shaft belt at the right tension? I don't know if I did something wrong or what. I have a gate belt balance shaft belt cause I didn't have a chance to order the OEM. Anyway, the balance shaft belt is tight without even moving the tensioner pulley and has about .25in on the non tensioner side of deflection. The last balance shaft belt had all of its teeth missing. I somehow didn't blow the head cause the crank skipped a few teeth.
So back to the Colt. I have been getting into it with the guy that rent me my space of the shop. LONG STORY He is being a big baby about a $10 light being broken when on his watch I have had over 1k of stuff stolen. I am getting out of the shop this weekend (moving 6 cars and 1 ranger) and so the colt is going to my house where the (Female) can work on it.
Nothing like hauling 3 cars and spending 37 hours on the road in four days!!! :vom:

So currently I got turbo gt rims a few weeks back. I will post pictures soon enough. I love them. I also finally got a bunch of personal stuff taken care of this weekend.
Saturday morning, my buddy and I put a direct radiator fan switch in his car. His fan just would not kick on but never over heated. So I put a switch in really quickly.
Then Saturday night we were able to work on the colt for the first time in months. It was awesome to work on. Where I left off was with the turbo, rad, and exhaust not in the car and the engine sitting on the cross members with none of the mounts bolted up and in the middle of a timing job. It was so easy to finish the timing job with 4 inches of space between the timing components and the frame rail lol. I completed the timing job. I got the motor and trans mounted into the engine bay. We lost the rear trans mount bolt so that still as to be replaced.
I found out my dream of having a intercooler in the condenser support was just almost impossible. I will get pictures posted of the clearances.

(IDEA 1) I would have to have the intercooler pipe re-welded to the intercooler. It currently is at a 45 degree angle to the back of the intercooler. I need it to be parallel. The pipe for the charge would have to run 5mm from the back of the intercooler. Why 5mm? So I can still have a coupler and band clamp. The coupler and band clamp will still be rubbing the back of the intercooler. I also was going to keep this charge pipe small at 1.25in or what ever the outlet size is for a 20g. I was going to do this until the intercooler. Why expand the air until I get to the intercooler. Even if I had the intercooler front mounted I would still have problems. The external wastegate and wastegate dump is just right in the way. I looked into all types of wastegate options and decided this was a project with no money involved and I started to dream to big of $500 wastegate housings and so on. So back to the drawing board.
So I discussed idea 1 of just re-welding the intercooler inlet at a different angle, but that will take time I don't have currently to have done. I don't weld and it is asking for favors to have the port re-welded. (IDEA 2) I want to make it to shootout with this car.

(Idea 2) is as follows, use the 20g and run straight from the turbo to the throttle body. NO intercooler. If I run small boost levels I should not have heat level issues I assume.

(Idea 3) run a side mount intercooler that actually fits on the side of the car. I had a 2g or 1g intercooler and it stuck way below the bumper, which looked horrible. If any one has a side mount that doesnt look stupid let me know.

(IDEA 4) is to run my water to air intercooler I have that was suppose to go on my fwd talon tsi. I just need a pump for it. It is just an ice bath system so I would have to find a small radiator to mount in the condenser location.

Currently you can see the turbo and radiator are very close. You can also see the motor in the right position in the newer pictures. I could run piping but the exhaust is very close. So I would have to run the intercooler piping down the back of the intercooler and then have some funny s-bend to the turbo.
So I am currently scrapping the front mount idea and going water to air for now. I want to get on the road and don't have time to have my buddy weld the intercooler inlet the right way.

Image

What turbo is this. If you are guessing please dont respond. So I got this turbo off a buddy that got a old drag car from the late 90s/early 2000s. It mos def has a 20g compressor wheel. It has a TD05 shaft, not a td06. I just rebuilt it due to a bad turbine wheel. I just installed the compressor wheel on a new td05 shaft. Standard turbine housing. No balancing and going to see how well it will do. I have read that each component is balanced and then I have heard that the CHRA has to be balanced.
So back to the point of this....I have been told that this is an old Buschur compressor housing with a hybrid compressor wheel. I have been told that is was ebay bs from back in the day. It has no markings on the compressor housing what so ever. It has kind of a polished look also. Thanks for responding.

It's just a TD05 20g. They made them that way back in the day, I used to have one on my car. The famed "BR 20g" from Buschur Racing was a TD05 20g with a massive clip on the turbine wheel.

How do I tell if this was some of Buschur Racing work? Anything different from the clipping anyone else would do?
Also these td05 is there a compressor map out there for them or are they the same wheel and compressor housing as the td06, but with smaller shafts?
