I need someone who can help me with my CSM Ive had a couple people look at my car but I feel like they know as much about this car as I do ( which isnt a lot) I bought it 6 months ago and It was smoking pretty bad. I was told by the jackass I bought it from that he had a manual boost controller on it and cranked it up to high and fried the piston rings..? So I had a friend do a compression test on it and the numbers are kinda low but Im not sure what high is so...then i had another friend look at it and he thinks the bottom end is fine and thinks its a bent valve in the head I had someone else suggest that the turbo could be bad thats the reason for the smoke...? I JUST WANT A CLEAR ANSWER SO I CAN START FIXING IT!! So if you live in colorado and can steer me in the right direction with a GOOD CSM mechanic that would be great...PLEASE HELP!!

What numbers where you given that leads you to say the compression is low? I believe consistency across all 4 pistons is what your looking for. If one is off that's an indication of a particular piston with a problem.

Pull and intercooler pipe off and check for oil. If there is oil in the intake tract you most likely have a blown turbo. I boosted my evo3 16g to 30+ psi Daily the whole time I had the car and only blew the 26 year old head gasket.

Well do a dry compression test, than do a wet test, spray little oil in and retest. If numbers go up it's the rings. If numbers don't go up, can be a valve. Do you get a poping around intake or when you let off gas? A possible bent valve. What color is the smoke? Does it occur when you floor it? Or when you downshift? A ring can also become seized. Put some trans fluid in that bore and let sit on the rings, the trans fluid helps break rings free. Do the tests you can do without even getting dirty before you start to pull everything apart.

269-615-6152 is my number. I live on base in Aurora but there are plenty of us that live in the Denver metro area. Biglady112 and gvr4799 to name a few.

King of the street - It smokes all the time but it seemed to be worse at idol or with my foot off the gas while driving, no popping sound that i noticed. But I did look in the piping and found a good amount of oil in the intake tube from the air filter to the turbo could that mean the turbo is bad? Smoke was all colors white blue black the whole gambit..

Coltdriver92 - thanks for replying I got a reply from biglady112 already and will be giving him a call when I get off work tonight. But if I need more insight I will let you know. I see your from michigan ROCK ON! Got a lot of family out there.
